About This Event
Join Jenny and Tracy for this nurturing and rebalancing 7-day retreat set in the innate natural beauty of the Costa Rican rainforest. Reconnect with your deepest self through daily yoga and meditation practices that will leave you feeling refreshed, vibrant, and grounded.
Each day will include:
Early morning meditation and mindfulness practice
Morning class blending traditional and innovative breath-based yoga techniques
Afternoon free time for rest, reflection, adventure, and exploration
Evening gentle and restorative yoga to promote general ease and restful sleep
Throughout this retreat, you will have a chance to experience Ashtanga, Vinyasa, Yin, and Restorative yoga. When we are not practicing, you will have plenty of time to explore the biologically diverse rainforest and surrounding majestic beauty of Costa Rica.
This retreat is eligible for Continuing Education for yoga teachers through the Yoga Alliance.
Jenny Tumas has been teaching yoga since 2001 when she completed her first teacher training at the White Lotus Foundation in Santa Barbara.
She offers students practices which blend traditional yoga forms, and the grace and power that flows through them, with contemporary forms based on current and evolving understandings of biomechanics and what’s best for real, individual bodies. Her classes blend elements of Ashtanga, smart Vinyasa, and Restorative Yoga—all with a focus on the breath and making yoga accessible to all. Registered with the Yoga Alliance as an E-RYT at the 500-hour level and as a YACEP (provider of continuing education), she has led several yoga teacher trainings and has owned her studio, Marigold Yoga, for almost ten years. She was certified by Judith Lasater as a Restorative Yoga trainer in 2003. Jenny’s classes are informed by her studies of Sanskrit, the language of yoga. She leads weekend Sanskrit 1 and 2 Immersions for the American Sanskrit Institute.
Tracy Matthias is a long time practitioner of yoga. Tracy completed her 200-hour teacher training with Jenny Tumas at Marigold Yoga and has taken additional workshops with Jenny Tumas, David Swenson, PJ Heffernan, Jules Mitchell, and Zoe Mai.
Tracy enjoys teaching and practicing Ashtanga, Vinyasa, Yin, Restorative, and Gentle Yoga. Her methodical approach to breath awareness and flow sequences will leave you feeling refreshed, euphoric and with newfound strength and flexibility. Tracy embraces the Ashtanga sequence – offering custom instruction, modifications, and hands-on assists if desired.
Tracy enjoys being an artist of life and a student of nature. Tracy owns and operates Lotus Root Yoga studio in Wisconsin.
You will stay at a sustainable, rainforest eco-lodge hotel providing comfortable accommodations amidst acres of lush gardens, hiking trails, and a secluded jungle. The atmosphere at the retreat center is simple, healthy, and relaxed. Rooms are single, double, or triple occupancy with fans and hot water. The eco-lodge has a beautiful chlorine-free swimming pool and jacuzzi. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are prepared daily and include healthy vegetarian options. The food is organic and local when available, prepared with nourishing ingredients and lots of love.

I have been working with True Nature Education over the past 6 months. There is such a sense of community amongst the staff and I love the abundance of knowledge that is passed along from these retreat gurus! The staff has been especially helpful and motivating me throughout my promotion of Explorations of Self: A Costa Rica Yoga Experience Jan 17-24, 2014 (My first retreat in Costa Rica). I definitely believe this is a good way to go if you are new to teaching internationally or want to continue and grow with an amazing group of spiritual and intellectual people. Thanks a million, TNE!
