Being Yoga 8th Annual New Years Retreat
Being Yoga has been holding retreats at Sierra Hot Springs since 2003. The Lodge and Springs are nestled on the edge of the wide Sierra Valley, at an elevation of 5000 feet. The main pool area has a dome with a steaming hot pool and two cold plunge tubs. Outside the dome is a small swimming pool with warm water, and a beautiful new sauna. On the other side of the lodge, out under the sky, there is a soaking pool with warm water.
Accommodation options are indoor or outdoor camping, dorm beds, and shared or private rooms.
There is a communal kitchen for preparing your meals other than dinner, and a comfortable living room and den.
There are massage practitioners on staff, and our evening meals will be beautifully catered.
Being Yoga with Trishna is authentic Yoga with a strong flow element. Subtle classical practices with breath and meditation are combined with some innovative approaches for a deeply nourishing and revitalizing experience. On retreat we have the time to more thoroughly enjoy our exploration of yoga, and especially at the start of a new year to reflect on the past and dedicate our practice to being present, graceful, and of benefit on our paths forward.
The fresh air, healing waters, and beautiful trails are the perfect compliment to yoga on this retreat.
I have chosen the quieter midweek time for this Winter Retreat.
Yoga is every morning and evening, 2+ hours.
First class Wednesdaysday January 2 at 4:30 p.m.
Last class Saturday the 5th, at 8:30 a.m.
Dinners are at 6:45 p.m.
“I have attended retreats in the Healing arts, Yoga, and Taijiwuqiguan around the world with master teachers. Trishna is a very unique teacher. Her passion for the science of yoga and her dedication to knowing her Self grant her an outstanding opportunity to lead students to the inner yoga. She has always invited me to witness my own process and to neither go further nor fall short of where I am in the very moment. I have attended two of her retreats and left a far stronger woman than when I arrived… I cannot say enough about her ability to work with people of varying levels of practice and meet each fully. I feel she has a living practice that she is able to impart as well as other master teachers I have worked with and she offers it with a grace and humility that is very refreshing. I look forward to my next retreat with her. ~ Amelia

I love Trishna's approach to yoga. It's an immersive experience. She starts out the first hour with very gentle meditation and movement, working up to an active Vinyasa that really warms up the body. The second hour is dedicated to deep Asana practice, which develops inner strength. She often ends the two-hour session with a meaningful Sanskrit chant. Trishna's voice is soothing and encouraging. Her guidance helps me get stronger - while never feeling the need to push myself into places of discomfort. The pace of each class is just right. Trishna clearly thinks about muscle groups that she will focus on in any given session and makes absolutely sure that we warm up properly before doing the deep stretches. It's a pleasure to participate in yoga practice with Trishna.

As a dedicated practitioner of the Dharma of eastern language and method, Trishna brings a wealth of experience into her teaching that makes access available to the immediate fruits of practice. She has the wisdom to allow for the limitations of the body while encouraging that her students explore their own thresholds and tendencies. Practicing with Trishna is always a whole body, speech, and mind reflection that reveals the inner yoga and source of strength and wisdom in the body. She is highly qualified to teach to a beginner and an advanced student with the humility to reveal how yoga belongs to the participant and is not about competition or endurance - but ones inner relationship with who and how they are in life. I always highly recommend her and would not trust the depth of my practice with anyone who lacked her uncommon dedication to her students.

Trishna was a wonderful teacher for our family yoga class on Thanksgiving morning. We have a tradition of doing yoga together despite our wide range of ages (25-77) and yoga experience (novice to experienced) and Trishna was able to teach and cue us so that everyone had a meaningful experience. She is a very thoughtful and experienced yogi !

I have worked with Trishna for many years. Attending her retreats in California as often as possible. I love her dedication to my individual success and spiritual and physical growth. I will continue to attend her retreats whenever I am able to do so. Hopefully I will be in California for her annual winter retreat. It is the best way to start a new year and the location and hot springs are magical. ~ Amelia Straton

Trishna has been my yoga teacher for over a decade, and the impact she has made on my life is profound. She is the most studied teacher I know: her classes are fluid and concentrate on an oscillation between inner and outer strength, and her guided meditations and mantras immediately place you in the perfect state for her yogic flow. She is careful about her students' bodies, encouraging an approach that allows risk but prevents injury. Her smile and laugh is contagious, and her classes are filled with joy as well as a quiet respect for this sacred tradition. Her technique follows me into every yoga studio, and her spirit stays in my heart. ~Molly Maguire
