About us

Join Matt Champoux and Sara Hess in legendary Bali, where a sense of the sacred permeates all aspects of daily life. We will dive into the myths and metaphors of Yoga, which are vibrantly reflected throughout the ordinary life of Bali. We will explore beautiful cultural sites in and around Ubud, and learn how the myths and archetypes of human experience are embodied in asana practice. Daily practice is oriented towards all levels of students and is a mix of Alignment focused Vinyasa, Ashtanga Vinyasa, pranayama and meditation.

The Bali Institute, Ubud’s premiere cultural organization, will guide us on our outings to observe ancient spiritual practices and meet community leaders and dignitaries to develop a better understanding of this unique culture.

Bali holds a very special place in Matt and Sara’s heart and they can not wait to share it with you. Join Matt and Sara for an unforgettable time on this world-class yoga retreat!

Why Retreat?

We asked people why they go on retreat, here's what they said:

Recenter, Rebalance, Renew..... I cannot provide nurture and wisdom to the people I love without the opportunity to fill up my own cup. Diane

Retreat Guru's Vision

We believe human beings are innately wise, strong and kind. This wisdom, although not always experienced, is always present. Going on retreat is a beautiful way to reconnect to our basic sanity and health. Our aspiration at Retreat Guru is to inspire people to experience authentic retreats and reconnect with their innate wisdom, strength and kindness.
