About us

The Deep Peace Meditation Retreat is not focused on pushing us into a rigid discipline. The focus here is on meeting everyone where they are at. Silence is required, to assist all in going deeper in meditation and exploring new dimensions of our beings. Full attendance of all lectures, meditation sessions and yoga sessions is also required to ensure that we all get the most of our retreat experience and support each other in the journey.

And yet, there is a soft attitude of easing into the retreat experience. Sitting comfortably in a position that will allow us to meditate.Respecting our bodies in the yoga sessions and not trying to push ourselves into positions that we are simply not ready for.

The attitude of the Deep Peace Meditation Retreat is the attitude of balance and harmony, the middle way. We do our best to not fall into a laziness or lack of commitment and at the same time to let go of any tendencies to push or force ourselves in a way that is not psychologically healthy or physically healthy.


This retreat is a very special experience. We often take vacations or courses, explore and relax, and yet find ourselves in the same patterns of stress and being closed off. Here, it is not just an experience and a good memory, but the Deep Peace Meditation Retreat stays with us. Helping us to open our hearts everyday, to come into a true authenticity, compassion, care and ease.

In this meditation retreat, there will be daily lectures. Sharings of profound teachings from many spiritual traditions(predominantly from the Eastern Wisdom Traditions of Yoga and Buddhism). Not only will we learn meditative practices that can be applied right away. But we will also learn the profound philosophies that we all intuitively feel, and yet the inspiring teachings can help us to live in the warmth of these understandings.

18.45 – 19.30 Question and Answer Session (answer to silently written questions)
19.30 – 21.00 Evening Lecture with a short Meditation

Delicious vegan food (can meet most people's special dietary needs, please contact us if you would like to know more). We will have a professional chef (who has lots of experience with vegetarian and vegan cooking) in the kitchen.

COMING BY AIR:

The nearest airport to Shambala is Stockholm Vasteras. You can fly from all over Europe to that airport with the low fair airline www.ryanair.com. From Vasteras airport, you can take a taxi to the train station in Vasteras (about 10 mins) and from there take a train to Skinnskatteberg (about 1,5 hours). The second nearest airport is Arlanda airport. This is the main airport in Sweden. From there you can easily take a train all the way to Skinnskatteberg (about 2,5 hours). COMING BY TRAIN:

We are fortunate to have a train station at Skinnskatteberg only 5 minutes ride from the center. During the summers we offer a free pick up services from the train station to the centre. Please inform us in advance of your arrival. For winter retreats, your teacher will inform you regarding train station pick ups. For train times, visit www.sj.se.

COMING BY CAR:

If you are coming from Stockholm, please take road E18 towards Oslo. After having passed through Vasteras, take a right on rute 66 towards Ludvika. After about 30kms, take a left on road 233 towards Skinnskatteberg. Right before arriving at the center of town you will see on your right a company called Team Däck, turn right at this point and follow the dirt road to Borntorpet. If you are coming from anywhere else in Sweden, please check www.eniro.se for maps.
