About us

This is a 3 day, 2 night retreat in Columbia, Missouri.

Registered Drama Therapist: Dr. Laura Wood

Loosely using the metaphor from a secular perspective of Dante’s Inferno, we will travel into the fire to more deeply discover the ways in which we consciously and unconsciously have gone through and re-create our own personal hell. We will look at parts of ourselves that feel stuck in old behavior patterns, ways of thinking, or past hurts and find our inner Virgil to guide us to discover catharsis, forgiveness, redemption, connection to community and to the personal sacred. Come join Dr. Laura Wood for a full weekend of group and individual drama therapy work.

Tuition: $425 ($400 if registered by May 30) includes lodging and food.
Member limit: 12.
Pre-registration fee: $50, applicable to tuition.

K says: Drama therapy is a way to take out a part of yourself, or a life experience, examine it closely, get some clarification on it, and reincorporate it inside you in a healthier way.

Why Retreat?

We asked people why they go on retreat, here's what they said:

My last retreat at SMC was so inspiring and so relaxing. But i'd love to have more time there to spend at the Stupa, visit the Kami shrine, and generally interact with the beautiful enlightened society happening on that entire land. Brett

Retreat Guru's Vision

We believe human beings are innately wise, strong and kind. This wisdom, although not always experienced, is always present. Going on retreat is a beautiful way to reconnect to our basic sanity and health. Our aspiration at Retreat Guru is to inspire people to experience authentic retreats and reconnect with their innate wisdom, strength and kindness.
