Buddha Travel Pathfinder Retreats Presents:
Experience Consciousness Through Music and Meditation With Guitar Virtuoso David Barrett. Enjoy seven nights in Sotuta de Peon Hacienda Viva — an amazing environment for creating and performing music.
Buddha Travel believes that the Path to Conscious Living can be achieved in many ways, and we aim to break the traditional concepts for expanding consciousness, beginning with this musical approach under the guidance of a musician who believes that mindfulness and meditation can take music to an entirely new level. If you ever watch an artist or musician closely when they are deep into the art, it becomes obvious that the intense focus involved is a meditative state. However, an artist’s life is full of highs and lows, and occasionally we feel that we are out of sync with our own creativity! This retreat will help participants find their way back to their peak creative abilities.
David Barrett, solo instrumental guitarist and leader of the David Barrett Trio, puts it this way: “After playing guitar for many years, I found the missing component to my personal development in music (and life) was meditation; it transformed how I composed and performed music.” The goal of this retreat is to help hobbyists, and professional musicians alike discover their full potential, and to develop their own original style by transporting people away from their daily lives, and immersing them in a fun, creative, and transformative environment. We plan on sharing some great jam sessions, performances and surprises during the Retreat so won’t you join us to ignite your creativity with “Consciousness Through Music and Meditation”?
See you in Yucatan!
“After playing guitar for many years, I found the missing component to my personal development in music (and life) was meditation; it transformed how I composed and performed music on the guitar…”

~ Steve Howe, guitarist (Yes).
“Staying in Sotuta de Peón is a unique experience of connection with nature, as well as a portal to time and history. Our 30 rooms combine comfort and good taste; in every detail of the decoration and in the distribution of the spaces we find the most subtle and distinctive features of the architecture of the haciendas and the traditional Mayan house.
Surrounded by trees and gardens, it is a joy for your senses, as well as enjoying the immense green sea of the henequen plants, whose textures are lost in the distance and the horizon.
Whether you visit the museum house, in the main building of the hull, or spend time in one of its gardens or in the silence and clarity of the Dzul-Ha cenote, you will be connected with you, with your own, with this Mayan land full of mysteries that the breeze takes from one corner to another and make of your stay in Sotuta de Peón, an experience that you will repeat every time you can with your partner, your family, your friends; or as a space of renewal, silence and inner retreat. Make of Sotuta de Peón, your home in Yucatan.” ~ taken from https://www.haciendaviva.com/hotel/
“David is a rare combination of imagination, dedication, and raw talent”.
~Terry Brown, producer (Rush)

“I can’t see how to excel if you are not mindful of your deeper consciousness. Through my meditation, I was able to gain access to a way of deepening my experience with music. I realized that being technically good on your instrument is just not good enough. But if you change as a person, you make music that moves you, and hopefully others, more deeply.”

An artist and lifelong researcher, Michael has spent his professional career in destination brand marketing, resort management and perfecting the traveler’s experience. He has used his experiences with indigenous cultures and extensive research into the many aspects of consciousness to craft an original holistic approach to Conscious Living. The Buddha Travel Pathfinder is based on his extensive compilation of information and instruction for creating a more conscious life that he discovered through his own travels. This network/matrix of topics inspires the retreat itineraries offered by Buddha Travel. As Michael explains, “The Buddha Travel Pathfinder is a vocabulary to explore how we manage various aspects of universal energy, and presents a network of interconnected pathways to living a light and joyful life”. The Pathfinder grew in part from Michael’s fascination with ancient and contemporary indigenous cultures in the destinations where he visited, lived and learned with masters and healing practitioners. His experiences working with the Maya Shaman community in Mexico’s Yucatan has had a particularly profound effect on his life and on the formation of Buddha Travel.
Cathleen awakened to the conscious lifestyle benefits of travel throughout her career in marketing travel and tourism at a major global PR firm. Her promotional campaigns were always motivated by a deeply felt belief in the personal transformational qualities as well as the economic benefits of travel. However, it was on an African safari vacation that she came face to face with the deeper meaning of Conscious Travel. She was profoundly inspired by a Zimbabwean safari guide, whose generosity of spirit and dedication to serving his clients moved her to want to become more directly involved with the transformational potential of travel. Cathleen often gives credit for her new direction to a heart stopping moment on safari in Botswana when a majestic leopard passed within a few feet from her jeep, looked her in the eye, and took her breath away. At the time, she was reminded of what it means to “live in the present.” It was later, in conversation with a Mexican Shaman, that she learned that in the legend of the indigenous cultures, looking a wild cat in the eye is a source of strength. She is now using that strength to focus more deeply on her personal…
