The Kranti Yoga Teacher Training course is a comprehensive Yoga Alliance approved 200-hour program that runs over 3.5 weeks in beautiful Patnem Beach, South Goa. Although intensive, the course is presented with a progressive approach to Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga. The course is a stepping stone to becoming a yoga teaching professional and the training itself will give you a solid foundation in Ashtanga and Vinyasa Flow Yoga.
The course is a stepping stone to becoming a yoga teaching professional and provides participants with a solid foundation in Ashtanga Vinyasa Flow Yoga and the Primary Series. The program is presented in a fun, relaxed, modern and progressive environment, however, students should be prepared to be mentally and physically challenged.

Course Objectives –
Develop your own personal daily practice (Ashtanga Primary Series and Vinyasa Flow)
Practice pranayama and learn how to develop a personal practice

Study the Patanjali Yoga Sutras and learn how to incorporate them into your daily practice and life
Learn how to structure a class and then incorporate all these components into designing your own class.
Learn to teach this class to your peers in a small group environment and then you will teach this class to your peers as your assessment
Asanas (Led & Mysore Style) and Anatomy/Alignment
The program offers a strong foundation in Ashtanga and Vinyasa flow. Concentrating on the correct alignment of the postures that make up the Primary Series with a focus on offering modifications to suit practitioners of all levels and abilities.
In addition to learning proper alignment for each posture in the Primary Series, you will also focus on how to modify your own practice as well as your students, when needed. You will learn how to identify when these modifications are needed and as well as preparation techniques to help improve the practice both for yourself and your students.
These classes are delivered by one of our Senior Teachers and supported by several of our Assistant Teachers to ensure that each individual receives attention throughout the class.
The aim is that you build on prior knowledge of anatomy, whatever level that may be, and leave with a greater awareness of your own body. During these classes, you will also focus on how to modify your own practice (if needed) identifying your weaknesses. The teachers will help you identify such areas and give you preparation techniques. During week two, you will be ready to begin practicing by yourself; Mysore-style classes. The teacher will no longer lead the class, you will complete the series, together with your peers, with your own breath count and in your own time. You will be supported by your Senior teacher and assistant teachers who will check alignment, help you deepen the posture and adjust you if available. Self practice is a great way for your teachers to help you personalise your development.
Pranayama – (Breathing Techniques)
From the first moment you step onto your mat, you will be encouraged to bring awareness to your breath. In Ashtanga, the ujjayi breath initiates the movement from one posture to the next. You will learn to use the rhythm of this breath to progress through your practice. In addition, you will also learn 4 further Pranayama techniques that will help you clear your mind, improve your lung capacity plus a range of other mental and physical benefits. This is an important aspect of yoga that is often overlooked, but should always follow a physical practice. Tutorials will explain the theory accompanying these breathing techniques, enabling you to practice effectively during guided classes. During these classes, you will also cover Kriyas (cleansing) and Mudras (energy seals).
You will start to teach your peers during the first week of your training. You will instruct each other on a one-on-one basis by breaking down the fundamentals of a yoga class, from here you will progress to writing and delivering your own class. Each session, there will be tools provided for you to develop your teaching skills, facilitating you to build your own yoga class that you will deliver during the final week. The teaching methodology sessions include: opening a class, sequencing, instructions, relaxation techniques, corrections and adjustments, modifications. Students always find this a particularly memorable experience as the majority of them will teach for the first time. Participating in each others classes and providing constructive feedback for your peers is a great way to learn and this supports the ethos that learning is sharing.
Classical yoga philosophy is interwoven throughout the program and you will be introduced to Patanjalis yoga sutras, allowing you to make your own comparisons of classical and contemporary yoga, posing the question: What is yoga? These sessions are a great time for philosophical debates and indeed provide a welcome insight into the views of your fellow students. Each yoga class will have a spiritual message that will allow you to understand how you can incorporate philosophy into practice. Hari Krishna will deliver a talk on yoga in Gita, a beloved Indian text from which many lessons can be learned.
This residential 300 hour Yoga Teacher Training Course is a comprehensive Yoga Alliance approved program that runs over 4 weeks along with a Distance Learning Project to complete beforehand. The program is an intensive course that presents a fusion of Indian tradition and contemporary thinking in a fun and progressive environment.
Students must have already completed a 200-Hr YTTC either at Kranti Yoga or another Yoga Alliance registered school. If your 200 hour certification is not Ashtanga Yoga or Vinyasa Flow, it is advisable that you have an insight into both of these types of yoga.

Vinyasa Flow for the Fascial Body
Vinysa Flow allows the body to move fluidly with continuity as we flow from posture to posture. This theory class will focus on the fascial connections throughout the body, looking at the function of the fascia and dealing with the body in totality. This is the anatomy of fascia. Students will compare traditional anatomy with contemporary thinking, considering how this applies to the practice of Vinyasa Flow. Studies will include mapping of the Superficial Front, Back and Side Lines; the Superficial Front and Back Arm Lines; the Spiral Lines. The module will provide an exploration of strength and flexibility for the fascial body. Students will understand the importance of bio-tensegrity and how to maintain the body’s natural tensile structure when preparing a Vinyasa Flow Class.
An Exploration of Strength and Flexibility
Students will learn how to stretch and strengthen mindfully and with integrity. Techniques will include Yin Yoga, PNF and Trigger Point Yoga. For many different reasons, the fascial connections within the body get sticky, bringing about stiffness. This prevents access to postures. Stretching and strengthening techniques can help break down adhesions and promote better hydration of the body. This can have a positive effect on range of motion and mobility. Students will apply these techniques to teaching Vinyasa Flow.
These classes will take place in a workshop format and students will work within the realms of the integrated body, releasing the Myofascial Lines to deepen access to the more complex postures of
Vinyasa Flow, including Supta Kurmasana and Marichyasnana D. Students will study the Superficial Front Line (for backbends;) Superficial Back Line (for forward folds;) Lateral Lines (for deep twists and Lotus Pose;) Back Arm Lines (for shoulder stability.)
This module will include a review of the skeletal muscular system from the 200 hr YTTC curriculum and provide the fundamentals to understanding the Anatomy of Fascia. Students will review origin, insertion, functionality and physiology of muscles. This module will look in details at the anatomy of the shoulder and the importance of building shoulder stability to support your yoga practice.
These classes will form part of the morning practice. Each class will have a technical focus that will work towards a peak posture. Classes will demonstrate how to incorporate stretching and strengthening techniques into a Vinyasa Flow Class, providing inspiration for you to create your own class as part of the Teaching Methodology program. Peak postures could include Eka Pada Sirsasana (Superficial Back Line,) Urdhva Dhanurasana (Superficial Front Line,) Chaturanga Dandasana (Front and Back Arm Lines), Hanumanasana (Spiral Line.) We will also explore the myofascial connections for postures such as Eka Pada Koundinyasa II, accommodating the complexities of such a posture in a Vinyasa Flow Class. The commentary will include important cueing to bring awareness to the anatomy of the fascial lines throughout the body, dealing with the body in totality.
Vinyasa Flow Teaching Methodology
The fundamental aim of this module is to advance your teaching skills, adding depth and technicalities to what you are already teaching. Students will create a dynamic Vinyasa Flow Class that will achieve a peak posture through stretching and strengthening techniques. Students will also learn how to teach a class on multiple levels so that all students are challenged sufficiently in every class. Assessment of this module will be through Peer Teaching which will facilitate a sharing of each other’s ideas. The module is linked to the Vinyasa Flow Classes that will be taught by the Lead Trainer during morning practice.
Adjustments for Vinyasa Flow
Adjustments provide deeper access into postures and allow students to gain insight into new postures. Adjustments need to be managed carefully and with confidence. Different body types will be taken into consideration along with the importance of the student teacher rapport. Students will practice adjustments as part of the morning practice. They will adjust peers during practice with feedback given during and after the session. Learning adjustments is a ‘hands on’ process and so will be closely supervised by the Lead Trainer.
Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga
This class will lead students through the Primary Series of Ashtanga Yoga as prescribed by Sri K. Patthabi Jois. On selected days, this will form part of the morning practice. Students will learn an abbreviated version of the series in order that they can make the connection between Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga and Vinyasa Flow. This class will allow students to understand how the contemporary style of Vinyasa Flow has been derived from this traditional sequence. Students will progress to Self-Practice Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga where they will guide themselves through the series while the Lead Trainer corrects postures and gives advice on correct alignment. Students will be encouraged to practice with reference to the anatomy of the fascial body.
These classes will allow you to gain a deeper insight into postures. Many Vinyasa Flow postures have been derived from the practice of Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga and so you will learn about alignment through the study of The Primary Series. During these classes, you will focus on how to modify practice for students with weak areas whether due to a lack of strength or flexibility. By looking at different body shapes, sizes and abilities, you will learn how to identify such weaknesses and give advice on how to improve. We will also use the postures to explore fascial connections, again dealing with the body in totality. If appropriate, we include the alignment of Intermediate Postures including Shalabasana, Ustrasana, Bakasana and Ardha Matsyendrasana.
Pranayama & Meditation
Students will learn breathing techniques that will allow them to develop and improve lung capacity. Each week, new techniques will be introduced to the repertoire and opportunities will be provided for Self-Practice Pranayama, using breath work as the gateway to mediation. Students will learn about the physiology of breathing along with the contraindications of each of the techniques.
Guided meditation classes will take place after Ashtanga Yoga or Vinyasa Flow Morning Practice. Week 1 will commence with a revision of the benefits of meditation. Techniques will include Mantra Chanting, Breathing Techniques, Beach, Moonlight and Buddhist Meditations.
The History of Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga
Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga was developed around 1950 in Mysore, India by Sri K. Pattahbi Jois. This module will delve into the lives of the key practitioners and teachers of this era who were largely responsible for making yoga the accessible practice that it is today. This module will provide insight into how Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga.
The Yoga Sutras
Students will explore the fundamental concepts of Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras. The module will discuss several interpretations of this text and look at how the commentaries have evolved and vary throughout the ages. The module will include debate on how the mind has evolved over time and what Patanjali hoped to achieve through this text in terms of controlling the mind. Students will be encouraged to explore Dualist versus Non Dualist beliefs, including debate on interpretation in the concept of the soul.
Ayurveda is the Vedic science of health and longevity. It is intrinsically linked to the practice of yoga. These two sister sciences developed together and were traditionally taught together.
Students will explore the foundations of this holistic discipline, learning the importance of self-healing that can be applied both on and off the mat. In these classes, students will develop a deeper understanding of the gunas (qualities of nature,) doshas (mind and body characteristics) and pancha mahabhutas (the 5 basic elements.) Students will learn ways to apply Ayurvedic diet and lifestyle recommendations to modern life.
Ethics for Yoga Teachers
The Yamas and Niyamas, as described by Patanjali in 500 BC, still have as much relevance today as they did back then. This module will take a detailed look at how this code of conduct can allow us to have a healthy relationship with the people around us, whilst taking good care of ourselves. Whether a yoga teacher or not, the Yamas and Niyamas present ideal guidelines for us to be more compassionate to those people around us as well as being compassionate to ourselves.
Managing a Yoga Business
Students will learn how to build his/her profile as a yoga teacher. Advice will be given on steps to take in order to get work within the profession. Strategies will include marketing through Social Media, writing a BIO, managing a successful website, SEO, building an international profile. This module is exclusive to the 300 hour YTTC and not a feature of the 200 hr curriculum.
Pre Course Reading
Students will be expected to have familiarity with David Swenson’s Ashtanga Yoga, The Practice Manual. This text provides an excellent commentary of the Primary Series. Students are expected to have a familiarity with The Primary Series sequence along with the key features of Ashtanga Yoga. Students will be expected to present several postures from this text and asked to identify their own personal limitations to the full expression of the posture. There will also be some Yoga Philosophy preparation. Course work will be sent out prior to the course for students to submit prior to the start of the course. This will be assessed through presentation when the course starts.

Beyond the course, there are often opportunities for graduates to support us in the shala, should you want to lengthen your stay in Patnem. Subject to availability, we are happy for you develop and support the Senior Teachers on the YTTCs. This can be discussed on successful completion of your course. ...and my expectations were high! After visiting their website I was convinced to book my first yoga holiday at Kranti Yoga and I couldn't have found a better place to relax and connect with myself. Kranti Yoga is a beautiful place right by the sea, full of chill-out lounges and yoga and meditation platforms (there is even a tree house where we would do our morning breathing meditation). I am still blown away by the beautiful and loving atmosphere - no music needed, you could feel the harmony. The staff was sweet and helping out wherever they could, the cottages were clean and charmingly arranged with everything you need to feel at home (I loved the hammock and swinging chair) and the kitchen team did an incredible job...every meal was a sensation!! My husband and I enjoyed the yoga and meditation sessions very much (the teachers were amazing - Thank you Eve and Kara!) and we can't wait to come back again. Thank you Kranti Yoga for an extraordinary experience!!

Charming place at the Goa beach, fabulous-delicious-yummy food, friendly staff, amazing teachers. Packed agenda with yoga practice and meditation, but in the same time with so much easy and zero stress. I came with severe upper back problems that lasted for years, and get out of it with no pain at all. It truly changed my life.

Brilliant yoga teachers, top quality classes. Very organised and reliable schedule. Location in a village and directly on the ocean front is to die for. The food is fantastic. Only downside is the presence of many insects and no cleaning materials to sweep the room or repel the bugs. But this is high quality yoga and I really hope to be back again! It’s totally the yoga dream place.

Kranti Yoga was a wonderful place to experience my first yoga retreat/yoga holiday. The classes were challenging but able to be adapted to beginners. All of the instructors were warm, kind, and incredibly knowledgeable about their practice. The atmosphere was calm, relaxing, and beautiful.

I loved every single second at Kranti! The shala staff were phenomenal, from accommodating requests to keeping the shala spotless - you couldn't ask for anything better. I completed my 200 hour Ashtanga-Vinyasa Teacher Training and am confident with the skills I learned at Kranti to teach a yoga class. Our lead teacher Vicki Reynolds was one of the most inspiring teachers I've ever had (university professors included) she really knows how to teach. All of the other teachers were fantastic as well (Steph, Alex, Ida, Grace, Faye, Enzo, Didier, Fran, Laura, Julia, Lisa). The food was great, and with the shala being a few steps from the beach you can't ask for anything better! Already planning my next trip back to Kranti for my 300 hour YTT :D

Kranti Yoga is the place to be if you’re looking to begin or to progress as a teacher. The caliber of Teacher Trainers there are absolutely priceless. I recently finished my 300hr YTT here and I loved every single second of it. I initially had reservations about doing the course through Kranti Yoga as it is a very western yoga school, but was pleasantly surprised to find the perfect blend of essential western teaching menthodology with traditional Indian culture and philosophy. You will not only learn about in-depth anatomy, adjustment and alignment, indian philopshy and practices, you will also deepen your personal practice to the next level under constructive guidance. The accomodation was fab, the food was amazing and you’re right on the beach. What more could you want?! I’m forever greatful for my experience at Kranti.

I did my 100 hours Yin Yoga teacher training in April on my second Visit to Kranti. The content and structure of the course was great with amazing teachers to guide through the course material. Spent almost 3 weeks in Kranti Village this April on an intensive course and I must say it was worth every penny (or euro in my case🙂). Great accommodation, even better food and yoga classes all day long. My course entitled me to one hour one-2-one class each day focused on ashtanga primary series asanas and their correct alignments and modifications which was super helpfull and I’m forever grateful to Ida for being a great and patient teacher:) Definitely recomment Kranti as a place to enjoy both yoga and beach chill out time.

I found Paradise! I can't describe how happy I am that I found Kranti Yoga. After travelling for so long to many countries I got to India. I knew that there had to be a place like I had found in Indonesia before. A place where you just feel at home. As soon as I entered I was overwhelmed by its beauty, peacefulness, love in every detail, friendlyness of the staff people, rooms.... the Yoga teachers are very well trained, the program is great if you want to experience or deepen Yoga and Meditation. Best Food. Everybody smiling. I am coming back.
