About This Event

Enjoy yoga in one of the most relaxing places you can find. Join yoga instructor Andy Gottlieb (Arnesh) for this seven night adventure. Retreat includes 2 yoga practices daily, surf lessons, and a nature and estuary (canoe) tour. Daily morning practice as well as afternoon or evening practice depending on the schedule. Yoga will either be led in an outdoor rancho by the pool at Las Tortugas Hotel, or occasionally on the expansive beach of Playa Grande during low tide. We will go for morning meditation walks, discuss the 8 limbs of yoga over lunch and enjoy 3 healthy meals a day prepared by local cooks. When you are not practicing yoga or participating in planned events, feel free to explore the Guanacaste or just relax on the beach, or in a hammock by the pool. This is your chance to breathe, be mindful, and reenergize. Come join us for this awesome adventure and find out why Arnesh has made Playa Grande his second home! If you decide to stay longer, or would like to plan additional sightseeing adventures, the staff at Las Tortugas would be glad to help. The retreat is designed for all levels, from beginners to advanced practitioners.

(We are so excited to have yoga instructors Tugce Tasci Kayar and Talat Kayar joining us for this retreat!)

Breathe, be mindful and reenergize. Feel Community, Unity and Love!

The closest airport is Liberia in Guanacaste (about 50 minutes). Participants can take a local bus to Matapalo or take a shuttle or taxi. Grayline shuttle offers direct transfers. We can make reservations with a private minibus for large groups.

If flying into San Jose, you can either take grayline shuttle directly to the hotel, take a nature's air flight to tamarindo, or drive. It is about 4.5 hrs from San Jose to Playa Grande. We recommend adding a few days to your trip and stopping at Monteverde Cloud forest (or other natural area) on the way there and Arenal Volcano on the way home to add some great sightseeing and to split up the drive.

      Wonderful Yoga Instructor

Arnesh has an amazing positive energy at all times. He spreads that beautiful energy throughout his yoga classes. He encourages his students to stay connected to their breath and body, help them release what needs to be release and feel good about themselves. I look forward to his classes every week.

      Arnesh inspires me

Arnesh (Andy Gottlieb) has been my yoga teacher for several years. I love doing yoga with him because he inspires me to improve my practice, but even more importantly, he helps me to turn my gaze both inward to be my best self and outward to embrace the goodness in the world and to reject negativity. His careful instruction and the corrections he offers have helped me to become stronger and to improve my balance. Also, I have a yoga CD he gave me as a birthday gift, so I get to do yoga with Arnesh every morning!

Why Retreat?

We asked people why they go on retreat, here's what they said:

I teach yoga part time and am a mom of two toddlers full time. I love my life, but goodness do I need a break. My husband and I have been putting off our wedding ceremony for 4 years because life has gotten in the way. We haven't had a single night alone since our family has grown. I wouldn't change a thing about our lives now, but it would be so wonderful to remember what it's like to 'just be us.' Antrim

Retreat Guru's Vision

We believe human beings are innately wise, strong and kind. This wisdom, although not always experienced, is always present. Going on retreat is a beautiful way to reconnect to our basic sanity and health. Our aspiration at Retreat Guru is to inspire people to experience authentic retreats and reconnect with their innate wisdom, strength and kindness.
