Regional Ritual Academy II

About us

Halifax Shambhala Centrer will host a Second Regional Shambhala Ritual Academy August 31-September 2, 2018. This program will present an opportunity to further our understanding of the view of ritual presented by Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche at the first International Shambhala Ritual Academy. In November 2016, the Sakyong gave further teachings at the Second International Shambhala Ritual Academy held in Boulder, initiating a second cycle of regional academies.

This academy will offer these powerful teachings from the Sakyong, deepen our view, offer hands-on training, emphasize recent developments of Shambhala ritual, and discuss how to apply these teachings in one's daily life and in our Shambhala Centers.

Regional Shambhala Ritual Academy II offers continued training for those who wish to deepen their skills and practice path as umdzes or chöpöns. Separate umdze and chöpön tracks will be devoted to refining our skills and working with specific sadhana practices. The entire assembly will meet together to further our study of the Sacred World, Shambhala Ritualtext, particularly focusing on offerings of body, speech and mind. Shambhala Ritual Academy oaths and pins will be offered during the weekend for those ready to make a commitment to serving our mandala as an umdze or chöpön.

Faculty for the Academy is Rupa Acharya Suzann Duquette, Chöpön Corps Director Andrea Doukas, and Umdze Corps Director Timothy Quigley

If you have attended either the first International Shambhala Ritual Academy or one of the first regional Shambhala Ritual Academy weekends since 2013, you are eligible and warmly invited to join in this further exploration of ritual in Shambhala. Why Retreat?

We asked people why they go on retreat, here's what they said:

I teach yoga part time and am a mom of two toddlers full time. I love my life, but goodness do I need a break. My husband and I have been putting off our wedding ceremony for 4 years because life has gotten in the way. We haven't had a single night alone since our family has grown. I wouldn't change a thing about our lives now, but it would be so wonderful to remember what it's like to 'just be us.' Antrim

Retreat Guru's Vision

We believe human beings are innately wise, strong and kind. This wisdom, although not always experienced, is always present. Going on retreat is a beautiful way to reconnect to our basic sanity and health. Our aspiration at Retreat Guru is to inspire people to experience authentic retreats and reconnect with their innate wisdom, strength and kindness.
