About This Event

Shambhala Training is a series of contemplative workshops, suited for both beginning and experienced meditators. The simple and profound technique of mindfulness and awareness is the basis of a secular path of meditation, which can benefit people of any spiritual tradition and way of life.

Shambhala Training Level I: The Art of Being Human, introduces the rich Shambhala tradition, which inspires and encourages us to explore, appreciate, and celebrate what it is to be human.

During the weekend, one is given formal meditation instruction. Through practice, we develop courage to simply be with ourselves in a curious and gentle way, allowing things to be as they are.

With the guidance of senior Shambhala teacher, Shastri Andrea Darby and a group of experienced meditation instructors, we'll discover that awakening is not about escaping from the world we live in, but instead is about bringing a mindset of wakefulness to every aspect of our lives: work, play, relationships, and more.

All participants must pre-register to save a place for the weekend.  The fee for the program is $150. If you have taken Level I in the past, you can take it again now for $50. Contact Patti Morgan for more information.

We have a generosity policy to make our offerings available to all who wish to participate.  If the program price is an obstacle for you, please consider what works for you, and offer as much of the program fee as you can.  For those who can offer more than the program price, we have a patron price of $175.  Your generosity in offering the patron price helps cover the costs for others who are not able to pay the full price.  To take advantage of our generosity policy, contact Patti Morgan at least one week in advance of the program at patti.morgan47@gmail.com

Why Retreat?

We asked people why they go on retreat, here's what they said:

This sounds like a dream! I am an education student and I have spent way too much time working all summer to pay for school. My boyfriend of 5 years is a government firefighter and has been away working most of the summer. His 30th Birthday and our 6th anniversary is coming up this winter, we would love to celebrate with a yoga retreat! We both love yoga but have barley had time to practice in the past few months. Keeping our fingers crossed! Jaimee and Dan
