About This Event
Birth of the Warrior
April 13-15, 2017
Brunswick Shambhala Center
19 Mason Street, Brunswick
This second-weekend program in the Way of Shambhala Training path provides a deepening of instruction for sitting and walking meditation as a means to explore how we can free ourselves from the patterns that repress our brilliance, compassion, and mindfulness.
Having tasted the experience of basic goodness in the first-weekend retreat, we long to move forward.
Deepening our meditation practice allows us to observe how we personally create a cocoon of habits to mask our fear. These habits trap us and prevent us from experiencing the full potential of our lives. Through meditation, we begin to appreciate that there is no fundamental obstacle to experiencing basic goodness.
Shambhala Training Weekend II: Birth of the Warrior introduces a meditation practice that builds upon the mindfulness-awareness technique of Shambhala Training Weekend I. The weekend provides students with real techniques for working with fear and habitual patterns of thought and behavior.
Pre-requisite: Shambhala Training Weekend I: The Art of Being Human
About Shambhala Training
Shambhala Training offers a structured path of meditation and emotional intelligence education rooted in the ancient wisdom of the Shambhala tradition and created for the challenges of modern, everyday existence.
The Shambhala Training path consists of weekly classes and weekend retreats suitable for both beginning and experienced meditators, and open to people of any spiritual tradition.
This comprehensive overview of mindfulness meditation and contemplative living practices presents the view that when we foster a more awake relationship with ourselves we are creating a more awake and compassionate world.
Registration: Early registration is recommended to save your space and it also helps the staff plan for the program.
The Brunswick Portland Shambhala Center is funded solely by your membership, program fees, and donations. Thank you for your generosity as you consider what you can pay for each program at our Center. We strive to price our programs in a way that accurately reflects the financial need of our Center and the cost to us of producing the program.
We have a generosity policy to make our offerings available to all who wish to participate. If the program price is an obstacle for you, please consider what is possible for you in your current situation, and offer as much of the program fee as you can.
For those who can offer more than the program price, we have a “patron price”. Your generosity in offering the patron price helps cover the costs for others who are not able to pay the full price.
