Even when the speed and stress of daily life can feel all-consuming, the depth of the present moment is always available to us. Ths summer, commit to caring for your mind and heart with Shambhala NYC's Meditation in the City Retreat: Seven Days of Mindfulness.
By participating in deep practice in the heart of the city, we are better able to incorporate the rich rewards of retreat into our daily lives and see the magic in our usual surroundings. This allows the benefits of retreat practice to stay with us long after the retreat is over.
Modeled on the structure of a traditional weekthün (or "weeklong session"), each day is made up of consecutive sessions of sitting and walking meditation, dharma talks, movement, mindful eating, and silence as practice. Mindfulness-awareness meditation practice is the focus of this powerful retreat. This technique of watching and being with the mind and body transforms how we relate to everyday life and ourselves.
People of all faiths and traditions are warmly invited. Please note the practice days will begin and end with a few traditional chants.
