Introduction to Mindfulness for Children & Families: 6 week Course

About us

This 6-week class will provide a family-friendly introduction to mindfulness and include short meditation sessions, movement, and creative projects that can be practiced and applied in a home setting. Families - parts or whole - are encouraged to participate together. Weekly themes include stabilizing the mind, working with distraction, mindful communication, bringing peace into daily life, and gratitude. Parents are encouraged to attend with their children. 

For families with children ages approximately 8-12. The program cost is $90 per family for 6 classes. 

Generosity Policy
We have a generosity policy to make our offerings available to all who wish to participate. If the program price is an obstacle for you, please consider what works for you, and offer as much of the program fee as you can.

For those who can offer more than the program price, we have a "patron price." Your generosity in offering the patron price helps cover the costs for others who are not able to pay the full price.

About the Instructor:

Rob Ley is a fourth grade teacher at University of Chicago Laboratory Schools and has been a member of the Chicago Shambhala Center for three years. Rob believes that mindfulness is an act of curiosity and can help everyone - especially children and families - realize their full potential. He completed training with Mindful Schools and also trained with Daniel Rechtschaffen of Mindful Education. Rob currently teaches mindfulness to Lab School students and uses his personal practice to support the work he does in the classroom and surrounding community.
