Ashe Mahamudra Vajrayana Retreat

About This Event

This five-day group retreat will be structured according to the Ashe Mahamudra text, a profound new practice first given to Scorpion Seal students by Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche, which students now receive at Sacred World Assembly. The retreat will weave together traditional investigation and pointing out instructions of mahamudra and dzogchen with the wisdom of Ashe and the path of the Four Dignities as embodied in Ashe Mahamudra. For those who have not yet received the Ashe Mahamudra lung for this new practice, it will be given at the beginning of the retreat.

Note: This retreat is open to all Shambhala tantrikas who have completed either Vajradhatu/Shambhala Seminary or Sacred World Assembly. A special schedule will accommodate two daily sessions of Primordial Rigden ngondro or Werma practice, so that participation in this program will meet 5 days of the group retreat requirement for Rigden Abisheka and Scorpion Seal Assemblies. It is preferred that participants commit to completing the entire 5-day retreat.

Mahamudra, the “great seal,” is among the most profound streams of teaching and practice of Vajrayana Buddhism. Revered as a powerful support for all other tantric practices, it is also extremely simple and direct, focused on recognizing and gaining confidence in the nature of mind through direct experience.

These profound practices are at the heart of our Shambhala vajrayana warrior lineage. Acharya Fleet Maull will give talks and guided practices. There will also be time for contemplation, study, discussion, aimless wandering, silence, and conversation. Early morning qigong and afternoon mindful movement exercises will be offered.  The retreat will end with a Sadhana of Mahamudra feast on the afternoon of December 31st.
