About This Event
In this world of push and pull, the power of mindfulness of breathing is the right antidote.
The Buddha explained that the quickest way to enlightenment is mindfulness of breathing, because this profound practice brings us to the complete stilling of thought, which allows insight to arise and uproot the erroneous view of self.
This retreat will explore the correct way to practice as it is explained in the suttas, and we will discuss how to overcome the hindrances that arise in meditation.
While this practice is a “hack,” or, direct path, to jhanic attainment, it is also one of the most dynamic practices, requiring constant and resolute mindfulness. Having Venerable Pannavati and Venerable Pannadipa provide you with guidance will assist you in discernment and skillfulness, teaching you to be an island unto yourselves.
Venue HighlightsHeartwood’s facilities include a historic thirty-room Victorian-era mansion, and additional thirty adjoining courtyard rooms. Three meditation halls and a commercial kitchen are designed to support short-term and long-term retreats, conferences, and workshops. Quiet spaces indoors and out invite contemplation and conversation. Our goal is to nurture all aspects of one’s being.
AccommodationsRooms are double-occupancy. Depending on the number of retreatants, if single rooms are available, we assign them in order of registration to those who registered earliest. For your convenience, Heartwood provides bed linens, blankets, and towels. All rooms, whether double or single, have an en-suite bathroom.
