"Three primary essentials of genius: an eye that can see nature, a heart that can feel nature and a boldness that dares follow it." -Bardic Thiad I want to thank you, again, Adriana, for the fabulous time at the retreat at Luna Lodge in Costa Rica. It was a fabulous way to celebrate my special birthday! The food was out-of-this world – not only delicious, but beautifully presented, the service was gracious and fabulous, the yoga classes were wonderful and inspiring. I loved doing your daily journal, and am still doing it almost daily now that I’m back home. I loved your class in Hoop Yogini by the pool – and the fun time we had hula hooping in the dining hall the night of my birthday! My bungalow accommodation was amazing – waking up each morning to the sound of the birds and the monkey calls and looking out over the rainforest filled with beautiful flowers and incredible trees. I loved the tour we took of the local area and the incredible trip to the beach to see the baby sea turtles crawl down the beach to their home in the ocean. Lana and her Mom and everyone on the staff did everything possible to make our stay fabulous – and it was! The whole experience was “over the top!” as they say. Thank you so much for making it happen! With love and gratitude, Frances
Venue HighlightsImagine this… You are gazing across a deep river gorge just in time to catch the first rays of sunlight crowning the canopy of the primary rainforest across the valley with a hue of gold, your senses being teased gently to life as you sip on fresh pineapple juice on the deck of a huge Rancho. As the mists below begin to part to offer you a glimpse of the blue Pacific in the near distance, you hear the rhythms of the rainforest, an orchestra led by the wild brazen troop of howler monkeys only a few hundred yards away. Although you are beginning to rouse yourself a bit in preparation for the active day ahead, the sloth in the grand mayo tree off to your left hasn’t moved a muscle.
This is a reality on the 60 acres of tropical wilderness that is Luna Lodge, Lana Wedmore’s personal dream come true. Over 75 % of the lodge’s property is primary virgin rainforest.
You can spot literally hundreds of rare and beautiful bird species such as the scarlet macaw, red-legged honeycreeper, and slaty-tailed trogon. You will also likely encounter exotic creatures, such as coatis, tayras, and the four species of monkeys found in Costa Rica. There are year-round waterfalls on the property itself, one with a swift flowing chute and refreshing wading pool less than a ten minute walk from the bungalows. Just a few minutes further down the river valley, among a riverbed full of brilliant white boulders, a much higher set of falls thunders down from over 30 feet; you can stand under the spray and look down at how nature is realigning and reharmonizing the river’s elements.
AccommodationsThere are 3 type of accommodations to choose from:
BUNGALOWS Six of the bungalows feature two double beds, a private deck, and a private bathroom with shower and bathtub. Large windows and a high thatched-palm roof provide for ample air circulation, while walls of white cane add a decorative rustic touch.
One of the really attractive and unique parts of the bungalow is the lush private garden just off the shower, smoothing the transition to the rainforest outside, yet keeping it all protected with a handcrafted stone wall.
The hacienda-styled rooms are closer to the main lodge and are fully enclosed. The spacious colonial-style hacienda rooms have private baths and are designed to comfortably accommodate three with one double-bed and one single-bed.
The view is spectacular and the toucans love to visit the neighboring trees in the afternoon.
The seven completely enclosed “nature-lover” tents have two single beds or one double bed, a private bathroom with hot water, electricity, and a balcony overlooking the canopy of the rain forest. Some think the tents have the best view on the property as the majority of them are situated at the top of the hill above the Yoga platform.

Menu/CuisineThe restaurant, “El Eclipse Total”, is open all day and features inventive local cuisine and exotic native dishes, homemade breads, organic fruits and veggies, and scrumptious salads, accompanied with natural juices, sodas, or your favorite tropical libations.
Everything at the lodge is prepared fresh each day often straight from our own organic garden. The dining area is open and spacious, affording comfort for dozens of guests. There’s even space for an occasional rainforest dance!
DirectionsLuna Lodge is located on the Osa Península in Puntarenas, Costa Rica. The best and fastest way to get there is my charter plane. A 45 minutes flight from Juan Santamaría International Airport or a local airport in San José. Charter companies have regular flights to Puerto Jiménez every day. From Puerto Jiménez there is a 1.5 hours drive to Carate Beach where Luna Lodge jeep comes and picks up the guests.
The round trip private charter is included in the retreat prices.
This also include the transfer from the Luna Inn Bed & Breakfast in Cariari to the local airport.
