Retreat number four with SwellWomen and they did it again! I always feel as though I grow inside and out, on an off the board at every trip I've been on. The type of instruction available at Puro Surf is what works and resonates with me. I'm beyond stoked that I was able to finally make my way out to the outside break and catch a couple of really fun waves. The enthusiasm and energy of the coaches and the SwellWomen retreat leaders made for a fun and enjoyable trip. I found that even when I was waiting for waves to come in and getting pummeled by the waves that I was learning a lot and having lots of fun. Lauren's yoga was just what was needed to round out a day of surfing and skateboarding. The other retreaters were fantastic and I feel like I made more friends for life.

The location was stunning! I felt as if I was in the middle of a National Geographic show. I had an amazing week filled with learning how to surf by myself, letting go and enjoying yoga and all the activities we were able to take part in. Some were more adventurous than others but all of our guides were super friendly and very knowledgeable about their surroundings. Loved it!!

I was lucky to participate in a SwellWomen retreat in the Mentawais, Indonesia in March 2019. Frankly, not only was it an experience that exceeded my expectations but the retreat lives on, both in my heart and on WhatsApp as we are all still in touch frequently since parting ways. I thought I was high energy until I met Lulu, who is so positive, warm, funny, and fun, that I'm grateful to have her in my life. Gina, the other team lead, was equally wonderful and they teamed up to give us a week of great surf, yoga, camaraderie, and spirit. As an experienced surfer, I went on 2 boat rides a day, to surf breaks that were working. Here was my typical day: wake up early and grab a light breakfast, hop on boat for morning surf somewhere warm and breaking, come back and rinse off, eat lunch, transformational coaching and yoga, back on boat for second session, come back and rinse off, eat dinner, pass out. Rinse and repeat. I came back physically exhausted and mentally refreshed. I could have taken it easy as Lulu says, "it's your retreat, do what you want" and that's what I did. Accommodations were great, food excellent. all well-organized activities, and a gorgeous setting. If you want to go somewhere exotic and beautiful and have a week with a bunch of great women and warm water, I highly recommend going with SwellWomen.

It is hard to find the right words to describe the "SwellWomen" experience, but in short, it was incredible. The trip leaders are able to foster such a special environment that is supportive, inspiring, fun, reflective and inspiring. The surf instruction was the best that I could imagine. I am so, so, so glad that I made the decision to adventure with this amazing group of women!

Lulu and her team leave nothing to be desired. SwellWomen is the ultimate wellness experience. I attended the retreat in Sri Lanka - this was my third women's surf retreat- the first two were with other companies- and SwellWomen provided my aunt, cousin and I with an experience that was heads and shoulders above the rest. Fun, Inspiring, Insightful, and Enlightening are four words I would use to describe this trip. I've already signed up for another retreat next year! Thanks to Lulu and team, I'll be a SwellWoman for life!

I had one of the greatest vacations of my life. It was very well organized. There was a plan for something to do every day but very flexible if we wanted to do something else or be independent. All the little details were taken care of like transport and food and this made it low stress. It was my ideal vacation. It was both active and relaxing. Lulu is amazing. I’m lucky we got to have her on the trip. Lulu’s passion for travel and surfing has inspired other people’s passions. I was a beginner surfer and wasn’t sure how I would handle it. I woke up every morning to surf and even when I left the group and had a free day to myself in Bali, I went out surfing! I feel so excited to have more surf adventures. The yoga teacher, Heather had such a beautiful healing energy. The sunset yoga sessions were so special. The group I was with was awesome. Everyone was so different but we all shared a common like-minded interest which made us get along so easily. Rote was a beautiful place. The people were soo nice. I got to surf a lot because it is not a crowded place. It was just us out there which I dont think you can get anywhere else. The accommodations were very nice but it is a rural place. No hot water, not much interaction with other travelers, no internet. I actually like this a lot because I like simple vacations. But I think it would be helpful to know that before the trip. It may not be a trip for everyone. Overall, I would 100% do another trip with SwellWomen.

The SwellWomen retreat in Maui was one of my best, most memorable vacations ever! I learned to surf under the most patient, encouraging, and passionate instructors, and I got to hang out, do yoga, and share meals/drinks with amazing women from so many nations and walks of life (we were from Seattle, New York, London, Australia, New Zealand, and Singapore!) :) This retreat was a great balance of structure (in the morning) and space to do “whatever gives us bliss” (e.g. nap in the sun, read, play in the ocean, explore the old town, chat with the girls over some wine) later on. Lulu was an amazing retreat leader; all aspects of the retreat were of high quality, and along the way, she customized the retreat according to each guest. Gina was a great coach; I enjoyed her guided reflection exercises and the one-on-one coaching session, which helped me think more actively about myself and my life and clarified some things that have been on my mind. I came into the retreat tired, worn out, and a little apprehensive about the future, and I came out of it well-nourished, relaxed, and energized to take on my next steps. Totally recommended for everyone, and I’m definitely coming back!

SwellWomen was a perfect retreat for me. I was looking to get back into surfing again. I also wanted to get reconnected with my body and SwellWomen offered this opportunity. I went on retreat with an old friend who I had not seen in 20 years and it was a perfect retreat to re-connect with one another. The other people on the retreat were inspiring. We all had a great time together and Lulu was an incredible organizer. From the beginning moment of contacting her, she was super attentive and responsive. During the retreat, she fostered energy and connection between all of the participants. She is a joyful person and brought present of mind and the gift of loving what she does to the retreat. Lauren, the yoga instructor was also well-educated and present throughout the retreat. I enjoyed hanging out with everyone at the retreat despite the retreat being a time to reconnect with an old friend. It was a great opportunity and I feel rejuvenated now that I am home. I would definitely do this retreat again.

I've had the pleasure of participating in two SwellWomen retreats. Not only have I made life-long friends with other attendees and retreat leaders, I was able to grow mentally, physically, and spirtually in an environment surrounded by other like-minded and supportive women. Food, accommodations, instructors, and hotel amenities were fantastic and I ended my week refreshed and relaxed. I returned home excited to share my adventures with my family and a renewed energy for work and play. I'm looking forward to my next retreat for the fun, the friends, and to take my surfing to the next level.

I think I’m turning into something of a Swellwomen lifer – I’ve been on 4 retreats (Maui x 2, Mexico and El Sal) with a 5th booked for fall and a 6th in the early planning stages. Lulu and team just keep me coming back for more. In every single venue they seem to have found the best of what’s available – from the accommodations to the instructors to the food. The team leads and yoga instructors are tuned in to the needs of the participants during the retreat as well, customizing the experience so that everyone gets the most out of the trip. Everyone looks dog tired and in need of a break? Yoga will be a nice juicy yin/restorative session. Weather not cooperating for outdoor time? Hula lessons in the yoga hut instead! There’s a nice balance between the structure of the day (surf lessons, yoga, group meals) with plenty of free time for whatever your heart desires. Every single experience I’ve had has been unique and unforgettable.
