On my drive to Indigo, I was awestruck by the beauty of the Pisgah National forest and the peaceful flowing waters of Newberry Creek. After arriving, I immediately noticed how the venue blended so perfectly with those beautiful surroundings. I was warmly welcomed by Mamma Bear Lisa, who instantly made me feel welcome, relaxed and comfortable. Lisa’s lovely, gentle spirit along with her gifts and talents in planning and leading retreats was obvious. Upon entering the beautiful retreat center, we were offered delicious, healthy food and also welcomed by her exceptionally talented and gracious partners, all of whom made my experience at Indigo very special and deeply personal. Indigo provided many unique and enjoyable opportunities to reconnect with myself and nature in the most nurturing and beautiful environment imaginable!

I”ve been involved in a lot of retreats over that last 20 years either as a facilitator or a participant. This retreat was as good as many of the best I”ve experienced. The setting immediately puts you at ease and I found myself relaxing into the wonders of the forest, sounds of the nearby stream, the embrace of a wonderful retreat center and Lisa’s “momma bears” warm welcome, embrace and skill as a facilitator. All details are tended to. The design and flow of the retreat allowed time for personal reflection, time alone if you wanted it or time with others. I found it both spiritual and challenging in my own personal work. Would definitely suggest others treat themselves to a retreat at Indigo.

My experience at a retreat at Indigo was a deeply meaningful and sacred time. Surrounded by the glory of the Pisgah National Forest and hiking trails and the serenity of Newberry Creek, the cozy Indigo cabin, fire pit and adjoining studio are the perfect venue for a retreat; a time for reflection, silence, sharing and exploring. Lisa is an intuitive, experienced guide on the journey. She brings in talented partners, each with their own expertise. Oh yes. The food was healthy and fabulous! Highly recommend Indigo.

Thank you from the depths of my heart for allowing me to be apart of yesterday. I was beside myself leading that group of powerful, meaningful beings. I'm getting chills thinking about it. What energy. I'm so humbled. INDIGO is a raging success - already. There is so much more to come.

Indigo Nature Retreat was the best kind of surprise! This gem, just down the mountain from Asheville, was tucked into Pisgah Forest’s magic. Lisa “Momma Bear” Garcia has created a space with the attention to detail desired for a retreat. There is an intention felt for the cultivation of community at Indigo Nature Retreat. My experience there soothed my soul and uplifted my spirit. I can’t wait to go back.

Driving into the retreat center, I was instantly struck by the beauty of Pisgah National Forest and the majestic Blue Ridge Mountains. I drove down the path, winding next to the beautiful Newberry Creek, and could feel myself exhale as I breathed in the chilly forest air.I drove up the drive and saw the gorgeous retreat center. As I parked and exited my car, I inhaled the glorious mixture of pine, wood, fire, and stream. The smell is similar to the feeling you get after it rains in the summertime. As I entered the retreat center, I received a warm greeting from Lisa “Momma Bear” Garcia. I was welcomed and encouraged to enjoy the beautiful breakfast spread that was before me, and to get comfortable. Coffee, tea, cucumber infused water, the freshest fruit I’ve tasted, yogurts, figs (real figs!), nuts, and so many other delicious and nutritious options laid before me. I settled in around the fireplace, with my steaming cup of coffee and plate of fruit, and I began talking with some women I had never met before. It was an interesting kind of talk, not the obligatory small talk one often encounters when meeting someone for the first time, but instead, the conversation flowed easily, and there was a warmness and richness among these women that I hadn’t felt for a long time. The retreat space itself was stunning. Beautifully crafted, with every detail carefully designed. The great room had a magnificent cathedral ceiling and stone fireplace. The furniture was comfortable, and we had plenty of space to spread out. Our guides throughout the day were three incredibly gracious, soulful, and talented women who led us through forest bathing, guided meditations, expressive arts, a drum circle, and some gentle yoga. The retreat offered each of the participants something different and meaningful. We all connected to something on a deep level, throughout the day. Whether it was in guided meditation, sitting around the fire, or on Shinrin-Yoku (also known as forest bathing), every one of us was moved. Each of us emerged from the Forest that night taking something with us. Perhaps it was a greater understanding of our purpose, a renewed sense of possibility, or maybe a deep sense of grounding that has been missing. I think each one of us found something at Indigo that we will not soon forget.
