About This Event
This trendy yoga method is ripe with feminine movement! Combining Hatha Yoga poses with many styles of dance, including a variety of tribal styles, this chakra-rockin’ yoga practice is a powerful instigator for finding your true center – coming into your personal power, and calls on those enlightened by Buti Yoga (we call them Butisattvas) to lift up other women and love their tribe!
Julia teaches a sexy and challenging Buti Yoga class, with a focus on cultivating and transforming energy. She always provides modifications for different levels.
Blending gentle, slow-flowing sequences with yin yoga poses and the softness of a featherweight dancer’s hoop, Julia will guide us through this practice, which she has developed during her six years as an avid hoop dancer. Julia’s hoop yoga class celebrates the circle as a symbol of wholeness, the spiral as a symbol of radiance, and you – flawless.
Learn to hula hoop with grace and ease! From the tips of your toes, to the intensity of your gaze, Julia will teach you to be mindful as you express yourself through dance. With a hoop – or hoops! – as your partner, you will focus your intention before each practice, hone your skills through expertly taught drills, be encouraged to find your own movement style, and embody the music that moves you. Single & Multi-hoop offerings for different level learners. Flowing dance and “cirque” style tricks.
Art of Poi
Maori in origin, the art of poi dancing has evolved tremendously in recent years, from its ancient Polynesian roots through the popularity of “flow arts”, fire spinners, and modern music festival culture. Learn proper form for the health of your muscles and joints! Great form will enable you to continue your practice for a lifetime without risk of injury. Become familiar with the terminology: This language will not only help you as you learn, it makes group choreography possible, and will help connect you to the entire flow arts community of people, styles and props.
Fan Dancing & Staff Spinning
The same concepts learned in hoop and poi classes will be translated to a variety of other dance props. Using an alternate grip, find the same movement patterns with a whole new object to manipulate! Spend time expanding your flow arts skill set with solid core instruction and fun drills for muscle memory.
We do what we do best, so that you can do what you do best. St. Croix Retreats, your partner for success.
Venue HighlightsSpacious, private, breezy, and views to live for. Our featured property, Five O’Clock on the Hill, offers several configurations to satisfy retreat attendees.
Two separate kitchen areas make it easy for large groups to cook and dine individually or together; with the main kitchen convenient to dining on the spacious covered patio.
The six foot deep swimming pool and an adjacent whirlpool are a perfect complement to this tropical home. Surrounded by stone walls the pool area is both beautiful and private… without blocking the scenery. Floating on your back at night will reveal some magnificent views on beautiful starry nights. Grapetree Bay Beach is a short walk away and you will often find yourself alone on this beautiful private beach. Sea Turtles enjoy nesting in the solitude of this beach and can be seen hatching in the fall.
The property covers 1.6 acres and offers several private areas for outside lounging and dining. There is ample paved parking… enough to park five vehicles without blocking anyone in.
