About This Event
The Living Alive (Phase) programs offer the unique experience of time, space, and guidance to help you (re)discover who you truly are. For 25 days, you’ll have the opportunity to create and establish new or different patterns for conscious living. The focus for Living Alive I is self-awareness – becoming aware of your individual patterns of behaviour and energy. The focus for Living Alive II is relationships – how you see yourself, how other people see you, and how you engage relationally.
In a highly experiential and choice-based environment, you’ll immerse yourself in The Haven’s models and concepts, with opportunities to go deeper, practice, and expand your range of being. Participants are encouraged to question their assumptions, explore their beliefs, and challenge their patterns of thought and behaviour in a respectful and safe container. Join a community of seekers and engage in the ultimate experience of self-discovery and transformation.
Living Alive (Phase) program Highlights:
An in-depth opportunity to engage more consciously and fully in your life and relationships.
Time away to reconnect with yourself and nature on The Haven’s beautiful 7-acre oceanfront property.
An opportunity to take your personal growth and Haven-style learning to the next level
For those who have attended a Come Alive, we will take a deeper dive into The Haven’s models: Communication, Power & Strength, Resonance, Selves.
For those who have not attended a Come Alive there will be plenty of opportunities to learn, practice and integrate these models.
Guided experiences designed to heighten your physical, intellectual, emotional, and spiritual awareness.
A meaningful and enduring investment in your wellbeing: 25 days of radical self-discovery and transformation.
Experienced program leaders, who are highly trained at The Haven and in their various professions.
Deep investment, continuity, and care from assistants and interns who bring a variety of diverse and complementary skill sets to their Haven training. This support team means a low ratio of participants to leaders.
A long history with hundreds of Living Alive participants reporting continued personal and professional transformation post-program.
Take-home tools to support integration of learning.
A full program schedule, plus daily breaks for introspection, connecting with others, rest, relaxing in the oceanfront hot tub, exploring nearby trails, and more. You will also have two 1-day breaks.
Achievement of pre-requisites required to pursue a Diploma or Certificate at The Haven (if that’s of interest!)
Living Alive I
Self-awareness: becoming aware of my unique patterns of behaviour and energy
Living Alive I (Phase I) is for you if any of the following applies:
I want to make more informed decisions about things that affect me, my life, and my relationships.
I want to discover, transform, and release energy blockages that negatively impact my health and wellbeing.
I am going through a personal transition and am unsure what happens next.
I want to better know, understand, and shift my own behaviours and patterns.
I want to learn how to draw on and access my inner wisdom, strength, and resources.
I want to practice The Communication Model and create patterns to connect more deeply and authentically with others.
I am curious to learn how others interpret and experience me in different contexts.
I want to discover and embrace the whole me – fantasies, imagination, hidden aspects and shadows too.
I feel stuck in ways that are destructive or no longer serve me.
“I can take responsibility for my own life despite whatever happened in the past. I can give myself permission to be powerful. I have choice.”
– Jay, Living Alive I

I am going through a transition involving others and am unsure what happens next.
I want to discover how I respond to topics such as commitment, vulnerability, and security.
I want to build relationship skills and shift patterns of co-dependency, jealousy, defensiveness, etc.

“I can have meaningful, alive relationships without denying or disconnecting from what is true in my mind, body, heart. I can be transparent and open about my reality, and thus open the bridge to knowing another. This is the kind of stuff my dreams are made of.”

Living Alive FAQ:
Living Alive immersion programs can be taken in two 12-day parts. Sometimes work, family, or other commitments don’t allow for 25 days away. We’ve designed the programs to be effective in 2 stages as well. Part A must be taken first, followed by Part B.
Living Alive II can be taken before Living Alive I. Initially, these programs (referred to as Phase I and Phase II) were imagined as a series. There is still a benefit to progressing through them in order, yet each is highly relevant and engaging as a standalone program.
Living Alive I or II can be your first Haven programs. Many people begin with our 5-day Come Alive program and are enthusiastic to continue their learning. Others get a taste of Haven-style programming through a Toolkit, other program, or trusted referral. Some start with a 25-day deep dive. If you have any questions about which program is right for you, please contact our experienced registration team: (contact info blocked) x1 or (contact info blocked)
Financial Aid can help. We offer simple payment plans, scholarships, and partial bursaries to help you finance your investment in yourself. Don’t let program fees hold you back. Learn more.
I was skeptical as to what to expect but from the first meeting, I was so glad I had made the decision to attend. The results were life changing. I now have a sense of peace that I've never experienced through a greater understanding of myself and my relationships. I feel free, wow! - M.J.
Venue HighlightsWith rooms by quiet coastline waters and rustic cabins tucked away among the trees, you will feel far from the hustle and bustle of daily life.
Our property and facilities are designed to support our program participants and facilitate the delivery of our educational programs. Although we may not be able to offer all of the luxuries that you may associate with a resort hotel, we do offer the basics and a wonderful natural environment where you can enjoy quiet comfort.
AccommodationsThunderbird dormitory is our most economical option. Each dorm pod accommodates up to 6 people, and each pod has its own washroom. Bunks are single over single, with extra-long mattresses. Dorm pods are separated by gender. The Thunderbird dormitory is only available for participants registered in a program at The Haven. From July to mid-August, the dorms are reserved for our Youth Programs.
Basic rooms are simply furnished, comfortable and economical. They have two singles or one double bed, ensuite, no TV. Basic rooms are designed to be shared by two or three people, with beds in the same room and a shared bathroom. A Basic room may also be booked as a private room.
Forest View rooms are nestled in attractive forested areas of The Haven property. Larger than our Basic rooms, Forest View rooms are designed to be shared by two or three people, with beds in the same room, a TV and private bathroom. A Forest View room may also be booked as a private room.
Ocean View rooms offer spacious, well-equipped and comfortable accommodation looking out over the beach and waters of Taylor Bay. There is a TV in each room, a full kitchen or kitchenette, and private bathroom. Most Ocean view rooms have a deck. Although Ocean View rooms are usually booked as private accommodations, you may be able to share an Ocean View room if you and another program participant both request to be each other's roommate.
Many people find that having a roommate enhances The Haven experience. For some, it's the start of a long friendship.
If you choose Basic or Forest View shared accommodations and wish to stay with a particular person, please provide that person's name when you complete your on-line registration. Please ask your preferred roommate to do the same. Ocean View rooms may only be shared if both guests request each other by name as roommates when booking.
If you choose the Dormitory, or if you choose Basic or Forest View shared accommodations and would like us to find a roommate for you, we assign rooms as men only, women only, or gender neutral.
We make every effort to meet the needs of all our guests, but cannot guarantee specific rooms.

Experiential, universal, revelational about relational and self knowledge. Skilled experienced facilitators. Both times I’ve gone it has left me with deep connections in a short time and I continue to stay I. Touch with those co-participants. Food is hearty, delicious, and plentiful. Grounds are peaceful. I look forward to my next course and my next reunion with newfound friends.

Our 15 year old son just completed Teens Alive (1-3) for the second time, and loved it. The environment is so nurturing and transformative - I really can't say enough about how grateful I am to have this program as a support during these years when parenting can be TOUGH. Our son is navigating high school with confidence, and making mature and thoughtful decisions - we definitely see him process his experiences in a new way and love what we are seeing. His communication with us is more open and productive, and we look forward to him navigating the rest of his teen years with his hands on the reigns. He is looking forward to next year's program and has plans to become an intern in the future as well.

The Haven is beautifully set on the waterfront on Gabriola Island. I wasn't sure what to expect at this workshop. I was hoping I would find more confidence in using my voice as I have been confident in speaking in public but deathly afraid of singing in public! What I found was a very safe space to explore making all kinds of sound from humming and babble to overtone chanting and yes...singing. Leah was an excellent and gentle guide and the acoustics of our meeting space were amazing. I would recommend The Haven for anyone wanting to get away from their regular routine and explore their inner world. I will go back for more!

Great Journey to the very centre of myself. I love all the Haven programs and this one was amazing, too.

I hugely benefited from learning new communications models at the Haven. I feel received and empowered around myself and my emotions and can now communicate them effectively. You don't have to be a yogi or spiritual to come to the Haven. You just have to be a person ready to connect to their authentic self. I loved the scientific, evidence based, psych and counselling type approach of the retreat. The instructors and assistants leading our program were so knowledgeable and helpful. They were all fully present and gave amazing guidance. It was also amazing to do this challenging personal work in a group setting where everyone was themselves and ok being vulnerable. Every single person made authentic, meaningful connections during this retreat, including myself. Having opportunity to work in a larger group and smaller group setting was nice. Plus the grounds at the Haven are beautiful and it was so nice to be next to the ocean.
