About this Retreat
Details of this retreat
Grounded in the spiritual community of the Park Ecovillage, Findhorn
In a world shaped by increasing uncertainty, rapid change and growing complexity, many people are searching for ways to stay grounded, connected and inwardly resourced.
Finding Inner Sanctuary offers an experiential week of reflection, renewal and practical exploration within a supportive environment.
Drawing from transpersonal and positive psychology, reflective practice, nature connection and the lived experience of community, the week invites participants to explore what supports your deeper wellbeing, resilience and meaning, both individually and collectively.
The programme is inspired by Diana Whitmore, founder of the Psychosynthesis Trust in London, who studied with Roberto Assagioli. It will be held by Christine Lines and others from the Findhorn Foundation core curriculum team. Together they represent decades of experience in education, personal development, group facilitation, coaching and transformative learning.
What Finding Inner Sanctuary offers
As the week unfolds, you are invited into the rhythms of community life. Through shared meals, group activities, nature connection, moments of silence and time together, we explore:
Practical ways to remain grounded and resilient during times of uncertainty and change
How attention, awareness and inner listening can support a stable sense of Identity and foster wellbeing
Ways to strengthen the experience of meaning and belonging
How psychosynthesis and transpersonal approaches to human growth can provide models of Self Realisation
Our Vision and Values and how they can serve as a compass during times of uncertainty and change
How we can empower our lives, reframe our challenges and turn obstacles into stepping stones
Multiplicity and conflicting parts to our personality
How we can express our deepest Self in everyday life
Connection, belonging and the role of community in supporting wellbeing
Nature as a source of restoration, presence and perspective
The week combines experiential learning, open dialogue, active listening, reflective inquiry and embodied practice in an accessible and down-to-earth way.
The Park Ecovillage, Findhorn
Finding Inner Sanctuary is rooted in the spiritual soil of the Park Ecovillage at Findhorn, a place with a long history of exploring the inner dimensions of life, conscious relationship and regenerative ways of living.
The Park offers a unique combination of natural beauty and simplicity. Surrounded by dunes, forest paths, the beach and bay, and the wide skies of the Moray Firth, it provides a supportive environment to slow down, reconnect and listen more closely – both inwardly and outwardly.
Accommodation
You will stay in simple, comfortable accommodation within or close to the Park Ecovillage. Most rooms are shared, supporting the sense of togetherness and community life that is central to the experience. If you would like to request a single room (subject to availability) a single room supplement will apply.
Meals
Enjoy nourishing, vegetarian meals prepared with care, using seasonal and locally sourced ingredients where possible. Eating together is a practice in itself: a moment to arrive, connect and experience community through sharing a meal.
Most dietary requirements can be accommodated; please let us know in advance.
Who this week is for
People join Finding Inner Sanctuary for different reasons:
People seeking space to pause, reflect and reconnect with themselves
Those navigating change, transition, uncertainty or burnout
People working in education, social enterprise, healthcare, leadership or community settings
Those curious about inner resilience, wellbeing and human flourishing
People interested in spiritual psychology, reflective practice or conscious living
Those longing for a slower rhythm, deeper connection and time in nature
People wanting to work creatively with pain and crisis
No previous background in psychology, spirituality or personal development is needed. What matters most is a willingness to participate, reflect and stay curious.
What you take home
The experience you take home will be uniquely your own.
It emerges through engaged participation, openness and lived experience. Many people leave with a renewed sense of connection, subtle shifts in how they listen and relate, and a deeper trust in their own inner resources – qualities that continue to unfold long after returning home.
Finding Inner Sanctuary is an invitation to pause, breathe and reconnect with what can sustain you inwardly in changing times.
The week offers deep renewal and meaningful connection, igniting compassion and empathy for ourselves and others. Nurture the inner qualities that help individuals and communities respond creatively to an evolving world.
This programme is inspired by Diana Whitmore
Diana founded and directed three successful charities over a forty-year period, designed and delivered professional training in the fields of business coaching, psychotherapy and counselling and youth work.
She served as founder and trustee of the Psychosynthesis Trust. For twenty-five years she was Chairperson of the Trust, Joint Chief Executive, Head of Professional Courses and a Senior Trainer and Supervisor in psychosynthesis. Having practised psychosynthesis for over 40 years, she trained professionals throughout Europe, and consulted on research and development of new projects in positive psychology.
Diana was accredited by the UKCP National Register of Psychotherapists, a BACP Accredited Senior Supervisor and a founding member of the Association for Accredited Psychospiritual Psychotherapists. She was on the trustee board of the Findhorn Foundation from 1994 – 2012. Diana is the author of two books, Psychosynthesis in Education: A Guide to the Joy of Learning and Psychosynthesis Counselling in Action.
Her background includes didactic training with Roberto Assagioli, the founder of Psychosynthesis. She trained in Humanistic Psychology at the Esalen Institute, California and gained a MA in Confluent Education, University of California.
In her own words, “As a young student of Roberto Assagioli in the 1970’s, the period just preceding his death, I was moved by his mission to put the soul back into psychology, which led to my taking over the Psychosynthesis & Education Trust. The Trust was revitalised in honour of Assagioli’s vision that for we human beings to truly flourish and experience fulfilment from life, psychology needed to include the soul – the place in each of us where we find meaning and purpose and a deeper sense of well-being. I have been both fulfilled and delighted to see the Trust flourish and grow to be a respected professional training programme”.
Programme co-focaliser
Christine Lines grew up in England and felt an early call to community, living on a kibbutz in Israel. She later emigrated to Australia where she first heard about Findhorn. With a career in travel and tourism she travelled extensively. Over time her focus turned toward the inner journey and she began organising yoga and meditation retreats. After attending Experience Week at Findhorn, Christine walked the Camino de Santiago as a pilgrim. A year later she woke up with the words ‘Findhorn Life Purpose’ on her mind, an inner prompting that eventually led her to make Findhorn home.
Christine has lived at the Park Ecovillage Findhorn for over fifteen years and has been deeply engaged in its educational life. She describes Findhorn as her ‘University of the Soul’ and helps shape the learning pathway of the Findhorn Foundation. The Essentials of Psychosynthesis training was the pathway into recognising the curriculum of the Foundation. She then completed the year long Foundations programme with The Psychosynthesis Trust in London and trained as a transpersonal life coach with Wise Goose Coaching. Diana has been a mentor, friend and colleague throughout. Christine is passionate about following the inner call, living into our potential, and recognising our wholeness. Endlessly curious, she delights in creating spaces where people can slow down, listen more deeply, and rediscover the quiet wisdom within their own lives.
Schedule
Deep inner listening to the wisdom you have within you – recognising, accessing and working with your own inner knowing.
Learning how to connect and co-create with the intelligence of nature.
Practising how to put love into all that you do, making every activity an expression of your love, or seeing ‘work’ as love in action.
You will explore:
• A variety of practises that help you recognise your connection to the sacred, and support you to stay in loving relationship with yourself and all beings.
• Insight into your next steps, and what can support you as you move forward in your life.
• Time to learn or deepen your meditation practice.
• Learn more about our community, our rhythms and practises.
Woven throughout the week is a second, more personal dimension to the learning.
