About us

Prerequisite: Rigden Weekend (or permission). Open to graduates of Shambhala Training Weekend V who plan to complete Rigden Weekend in the future.

Greast Eastern Sun and Windhorse mark the beginning of the Shambhala Training Sacred Path, which introduces advanced warriorship practices that extend the basic mindfulness-awareness meditation training introduced in Weekends I-V. These practices are based on a societal vision and aspiration to help the world.

This level of training cultivates one’s dignity and natural gifts that are able to widen one’s sphere of compassionate and practical influence.

This long weekend program (Friday evening, Saturday, Sunday & Monday) teaches how to see the Great Eastern Sun, the primordial energy and brilliance that is the basis of all that exists. We will also begin studying the root text, The Letter of the Black Ashe, which includes the instruction for raising windhorse, a practice for opening the heart and refreshing one’s confidence.

Material fee: $50

Why Retreat?

We asked people why they go on retreat, here's what they said:

I teach yoga part time and am a mom of two toddlers full time. I love my life, but goodness do I need a break. My husband and I have been putting off our wedding ceremony for 4 years because life has gotten in the way. We haven't had a single night alone since our family has grown. I wouldn't change a thing about our lives now, but it would be so wonderful to remember what it's like to 'just be us.' Antrim

Retreat Guru's Vision

We believe human beings are innately wise, strong and kind. This wisdom, although not always experienced, is always present. Going on retreat is a beautiful way to reconnect to our basic sanity and health. Our aspiration at Retreat Guru is to inspire people to experience authentic retreats and reconnect with their innate wisdom, strength and kindness.
