Connect with Horses Mindfulness Meditation Immersion
About This Event
Is your self-doubt ruining your attempts to live a long, happy, healthy and fulfilling life, full of purpose and meaning?
Our 5- or 7-day Connect with Horses Mindfulness Immersion retreats, based on equine-assisted experiential learning and empowerment, equine-guided mindfulness meditation, yogic breathing exercises (pranayama) with horses and walking meditation with the horses will firstly enable you to de-stress, relax and recharge your batteries and secondly, dramatically increase your self-confidence by connecting with our horses in an enriching, compelling and transformational way.
If you have always been fascinated by horses, and longed to connect with them on a deeper level but have always been intimidated by their size, this exceptional escape to the south of France will offer you the chance to make that connection and benefit abundantly from the horses' intuitive and authentic wisdom. You will spend the whole extended weekend in the presence of these patient, caring and generous creatures, you will be able to breathe with them, touch them, talk with them, walk with them and share your most secret thoughts with them. A unique and unforgettable experience!
“The only limits I have found have been my own. Where our own egos regularly allow fear and negativity to interfere with our ability to let go and form spiritual connections, horses possess an incalculable ability to function as conduits of connection. Where we analyse, where we try to explain, horses are already there - waiting for us to walk through the open door, to follow the path of spiritual oneness, to allow healing energy to come in.” Dominique Barbier

Venue HighlightsSemperEquus, a retreat centre deep in the heart of Gascony, 90 minutes' drive south-east of Bordeaux, near a small town called Eauze, is located on 20 acres of lush, green meadows and is surrounded by vineyards, woods, orchards and sunflower fields. Secluded but not isolated, this 200-year-old farmhouse is only 3km from a typical local town with all amenities.
This is a location with a history - the 5 natural springs feeding our 2 acre/1 hectare lake are reputed to have healing properties. Pilgrims on the St Jacques de Compostelle pilgrim's route have been making a detour here for centuries, to "take the waters" and pray in the adjacent chapel.
Here, our small herd of horses lives outside, year round. They are not stabled, although they do have access to shelter, especially needed in the hot summer months when they can often be found dozing in the woods or in one of the field shelters. There is more than a hectare (2,2 acres) pasture per horse and varied terrain for them to explore, mimicking the prairies they would have roamed before horses became domesticated. Free-range horses, and eco-friendly!
In only a few other places you will find all the ingredients of a perfect holiday combined with such abundance as in Gascony: fabulous food, outstanding wine, generous people and the breathtaking beauty of mountains, rivers, lakes and medieval villages perched on hilltops…come and meet our horses!
AccommodationsSingle bedrooms or double bedrooms with a shared bathroom in the guest wing of a 200-year old Landaise farmhouse with views of the 2-acre lake and the horses' paddocks. Towels are provided.
All guests rooms have access to a meditation room, sitting/dining room, kitchen and porch, private to the guests. The guest wing also has a separate entrance and there is ample, safe, off-road parking.

- Free Parking
Menu/CuisineOur food is simple but delicious and we aim to give your digestive tract as much of a rest as the rest of you while feeding your body as well and as generously as your mind. This is most definitely not a detox retreat, but rather a celebration of the wonderful variety of fresh local produce available from our garden as well as from the local weekly fresh food markets. This region is known for its abundant gourmet cuisine and we would not dream of depriving our guests of the pleasure and benefits that can be had. Even the wine of the region is reputed to have healing and anti-ageing properties and the people of the region live some of the longest and healthiest lives in Europe.
If you have any intolerances, allergies or dislike some ingredient or food, please let us know during your booking.
The most convenient way to travel to SemperEquus, depending on where you are coming from, is by air. Several of the low-cost airlines fly to airports close to us. Our closest airports are Pau, (40 minutes) Tarbes-Ossun-Lourdes (40 minutes), Biarritz, Toulouse and Bordeaux (all 3 just under 2 hours.)
For the convenience of our guests, we offer transfers from Pau and Tarbes at additional cost. From Toulouse airport there is a train to Auch (50 min from us), and from Bordeaux airport there is a train to Mont de Marsan (45 min from us). Airport shuttles and trams connect the airports and train stations. We also offer transfers from Auch and Mont de Marsan, but also at additional cost (depending on availability.) It is also possible to travel from these airports to SemperEquus by taxi. In addition, there is now a very good carpooling website in France that several of our guests have used successfully. It is called Blablacar and one could possibly get a lift, sometimes all the way to Nogaro from the airport for less that 10 euros.
We pick up our guests from Nogaro or Aire-sur-Adour at no additional cost!
Another comfortable option is to travel here by train, from Paris or from London, and from most other major European cities, to Toulouse station and then to Auch station - or otherwise to Bordeaux station and then to Mont de Marsan station. You can book your train ticket (in English) at SNCF-Voyages. Prices are often very reasonable, especially if booked in advance.
We highly recommend renting a car on your arrival at a local airport or train station, especially if you intend to stay with us a couple of days before or after a retreat as the region has much to offer a discerning tourist.
