Renew in Peru wishes to teach you how to live a life that won’t require you to detox!
‘Breathwork’ is by no means a modern or new age practice. In fact, it may be one of the oldest surviving, purist and simplest forms of regaining vitality on all planes of our being, while attaining curiously intense states of consciousness. Breathing techniques have been used by ancient cultures around the world for millennia as a tool to access the spiritual dimensions of the self, for the purpose of deep insight, transformation and self-mastery.
Breathing affects our respiratory, cardiovascular, neurological, cerebral, muscular, lymphatic, psychosomatic, gastrointestinal, emotional and energetic systems, and plays a vital role in the quality of our sleep, digestion, mood, concentration, detoxification, flexibility, immunity, body chemistry, heart rate, blood pressure and energy levels.
Our breath is a materialized form of the subtle life force known as prana. The dynamic movement of prana is what is ambiguously known as life. If we seize the breath, we inadvertently seize the life force (prana) due their interrelatedness. To the degree we can control and restrain our breath, we can become in control of our own life force. Sanskrit proverb tells us that “breath is life”, therefore the quality and depth of our breath determines the quality and depth of our life.
As with any energetic media, the breath needs a medium in which to travel through. These mediums are called Nadis; subtle psychic channels running throughout the entirety of our body. When these Nadis become blocked, or congested, prana can’t flow as it should, resulting in lack of vitality and eventually disease and energetic atrophy. It goes without saying that ultimately these malignancies will be felt on both the mental and physical plane of the body.
Thus the root cause of diseases has its base in congested Nadis, disabling prana to travel the full gamut of the subtle body. What is aimed at in Breathwork is to consciously utilize, by way of breath, the full dynamic movement of the life force throughout the Nadic system, and thereby regaining optimum health. This can be achieved by regular practice.
Breathwork and sacred plant medicines are gateways to a higher awareness and intelligence, taking us on a profound inner journey and powerful cellular healing process. It is in these non-ordinary states of consciousness and shifts in perception that alchemy occurs, and we can connect to the deeper levels and layers of our bodies and psyche.
Wachuma (Trichocereus Pachanoi) is a cactus native to the Andes, and has been used for thousands of years for its medicinal and healing properties. Ruins over 5,000 years old show remains of ceremonial cups with evidence of Wachuma used for divination purposes. The cactus contains a number of alkaloids including the well-studied chemical of Mescaline (0.21–1.8%), which acts as the visionary agent of the journey.
The plant, also known as ‘San Pedro’ is a meditation and self-awareness tool that helps connect with the subtle dimensions of Earth reality. At its core it is medicine of the heart, removing barriers and obstacles that prevent us from living fully in the heart space and anchored in the present moment. Considered a master teacher for its ability to help purify and align the body, mind, and spirit, Wachuma facilitates the expansion of consciousness and makes room for more lightness, ease and flow in our life. In a gentle, grounded and grandfatherly way, we have the opportunity to heal from our past and face that which is holding us back from our highest expansion and expression.
“If I had to limit my advice on healthier living to just one tip, it would be simply to learn how to breathe correctly.” Andrew Weil, M.D.

Venue HighlightsLike the Ancient Egyptians, Mayans and Aztecs, the Incas worshipped the stars, sun, and moon, had numerous gods assigned to various aspects of life, and strongly believed everything was energy and inter-connected. They were masterful stone workers, architects, astrologers, farmers and engineers, shaping and moving blocks weighing up to 300 tons from miles away and placing them in precise astronomical alignments.
During the journey we will visit several mystical sites scattered throughout the valley. These places are high-energy points and vortexes that hold profound wisdom codes to assist in our journey. Though built hundreds and thousands of years ago, these temples, ruins and gateways are still very energetically active and potent. It is said that the Earths chakras are constantly changing, and the spiritual centre of the world, the Earths ‘Kundalini’, moved from Tibet and India (the Himalayas) to the Peruvian mountains, where the Incas created their most elaborate temples.
