About This Event

A week of self-exploration in the most spiritually beautiful place we know. Discover Bali, dive deep into the ancient practice of yoga and widen your understanding of its healing benefits. Be immersed in daily rituals in a way that will have lasting benefits and inspire positive personal change.

Sowing the Seeds of change is about fostering gratitude, presence, and mindfulness in our lives through simple daily practices. This retreat will focus on the ritual life of Balinese culture, participants will make daily offerings, visit holy sites on the Island of the Gods and develop an accessible meditation/yoga practice to take home with them.

This retreat is suitable for all levels of practitioners, daily yoga asana classes are based on Ashtanga/Vinyasa (morning practices) and yin yoga (evening practices). Meditations will be based in Buddhist traditions with mantra, mudra and journaling offerings included.

 

Itinerary

Transfer to Oneworld Retreats at Kumara

from the airport or anywhere in South Bali.

DAY 1 – Sunday

17:30 Orientation followed by meditation session

DAY 2 – Monday

07:00 Yang morning session, Ashtanga Vinyasa style – 2 hours

09:00 Balinese Offering Class

The ritual of presenting offerings to the Gods is an integral part of the daily life of every Balinese. This interesting class helps you understand the intricate work involved in the simplest offering and explains the meaning behind the ritual.

17:00 Evening Yin yoga, restorative practice – 1 hour

18:00 Dinner

Evening meditation and purification ritual

After dinner, we will take you to TirtaEmpul, Bali’s most sacred spring pools for a purification ritual. This mystical place is visited by the Balinese from all over the island, a local mangku (priest) will carry out the prayers. An exceptional way to begin the holistic retreat.

DAY 3 – Tuesday

Experiencing a day in silence

Today is a day for contemplation and to concentrate on your inner self. Silence helps one to reach a different level of consciousness and a better understanding of the self. The results are usually very enlightening and can be amazing.

Spa treatment of the day

Balinese Massage – 1 hour

Combining different massage techniques – pressure points, palm pressure, sliding and kneading – this massage works deeply on the muscles, leaving the body relaxed. Balinese massage is believed to relieve sleep disorder, muscle pains, and sports injuries.

Lunch – Today, enjoy the privacy of your own table and in silence!

Afternoon to contemplate…

19:30 Dinner – Candlelight dinner served on your own terrace

DAY 4 – Wednesday

Silence remains until breakfast

05:00 Departure for Gunung Batur, one of Bali’s most spectacular volcanos.

Driving time +/- 45 minutes.

06:00 Morning sunrise yoga

Sun salutation with a splendid view of Batur volcano.

Return to Ubud

Optional cycling experience

Facial

Using only Ayurvedic herbal products, our therapists gently cleanse, steam and exfoliate your skin; manual extraction follows if needed. Throughout the treatment, the therapist incorporates a soothing and uplifting face, neck and shoulder massage. As you relax under the mask, you can enjoy an arm massage. Finally, after toner, a moisturizer is applied to aid skin repair and maintain moisture levels. All our facials encourage the restoration of youthful vitality and natural radiance of your skin.

      Money well spent, an investment in me!

    I just completed my 200 hour yoga teacher training coursework with Rachel and Bija Yoga School. I can't say enough great things about my experience. The coursework was appropriately challenging, the modules were informative and the guest teachers were a wealth of knowledge. I feel prepared to share my love of yoga with others and am confident in my abilities.       Newbie falls in love (with yoga)

    The location and time of year paired to make everything extremely pleasant. The grounds had a lovely location for us to do our twice-daily practice and then had so much more to offer in terms of delicious food, lovely pools, natural thermal waters, tubing and zip-lining opportunities, a spa, and a delightful staff. The weather cooperated the entire time and the wildlife was abundant. If anything could be improved with the facilities, it would be the addition of ceiling fans as a little air movement could go a long way at times. As for the yoga practice itself... I have participated in yoga one or two other times in my life. I went on this retreat more to take a trip with my "better half" and originally did not intend to do the practices (or maybe just check out the meditations), but finally decided to give it a go and I'm very glad I did! While I might have benefited from a primer with some yoga 101 poses (child's pose, warrior 2, etc.), nothing was so difficult that I couldn't grasp from sneaking a peak at Rachel, our instructor, when I had a question. Speaking of our instructor, she was incredibly attentive to anyone's needs during the practice. If she saw me looking confused or struggling with a pose/movement, she would provide more clarity and/or offer alternative methods to accomplish some of the same things. I felt very well cared for! I definitely plan to pursue some more yoga and meditation, thanks to how accessible I now realize it is. It will be a shame to do it in a studio instead of the jungles of Costa Rica, but I'm game!

      Rio Perdido - Costa Rican retreat

    I had an absolutely amazing experience with Rachel and Bija Retreats in Costa Rica. The location and venue was simply beautiful. It's clear that Rachel spends the time to curate the retreat experience prior to our arrival. Yoga practice and meditation are themed for the week for the group, but also individually tailored as needed. The retreat was the perfect balance of yoga practice, meditation, self care, and fun. This is my second retreat with Bija Retreats and I recommend them to everyone!

      Wonderful Retreat!

    LOVED this retreat. We did different practices each day that were all really nice. The meditative hike around Rose Lake and the firepit forgiveness exercise was great too. ALL meals were fantastic!

      Yoga Retreat - Hocking Hills

    What an amazing weekend! The Cedar Falls Inn and Spa was a great place to stay. They have cabins, yurts and rooms at the Inn. The restaurant had great food and a good wine list. Lots of hiking in the area and the owners and staff are a pleasure to work with. The Yoga retreat was fantastic!!! Jessica was our instructor and led us through a fabulous weekend of yoga, mediation and discussion. We also had lots of free time to explore the area or hang out in your room under a blanket reading a book. I will definitely be back.
