About This Event

Feldenkrais for Life: Improving your Movement (Jennifer Herzog)

Ages 18+

Monday-Friday, 9:00 a.m. – noon

$300 + $10 materials fee

We will cover the fundamental principles of the Feldenkrais approach and do two Awareness Through Movement lessons each day.

Each lesson has a theme that supports important movement ideas. Each day we will progress to finish with a challenging movement sequence so each participant can apply the ideas beyond the workshop (modifications are used to adapt to all abilities). Practically, this means making functional movements in fun and novel sequences. We always include floor work – for example: coming to sit and stand by rolling, exploring themes around walking, reaching and balancing – while taking time each day to focus briefly on anatomy and the healthy functioning of hips, shoulders, spine, knees and feet. Some working principles are:

Applied mindfulness and self-reflection – through moving.

Working with the novelty your brain needs to learn & ad

Regaining posture that supports your health.

Reclaiming your inner resilience and applying new tools for healthier movement.

Verbally guided gentle movements anyone can do, to be applied in any context.

Birth, Death and Resurrection of Jesus (Donald Schmidt)

Ages 18+

Monday – Friday, 9:00 a.m. – noon

$100 + $15 materials fee

We all know that Jesus existed – but how did he get here, how did he die, and how did we experience his resurrection? The Bible tells us lots of stories, some of which even disagree with each other. Does that mean we shouldn’t pay attention to them? No – we must, and we must peel back the tradition piled on top of these stories to explore what they might really say to us. In the process of it all, we’ll have some fun!

Be a Musical Star! (Daphne and Tony Matthews)

Ages 6 – 96

Monday – Friday, 9:00 a.m. – noon

Have you ever had a secret desire to be in a musical or do you love singing, performing and theatre? Join us for the “Musical in a Week” experience by being part of the production of “The Happy Prince”; a wonderful musical based on the story by Oscar Wilde. His story had, and still has, a positive message for society – one of giving and self-sacrifice.  The Musical in a Week experience will combine teaching singing, acting and dance with lots of fun and laughter to bring out and release the creativity within you.

For those who think singing is not for them, there are also non-singing roles, plus opportunities for set design, costuming and stage-management, so there is something for the whole family, aged six and up. Rehearsals will be in the morning with the possibility of extra rehearsals for an hour before supper. The week will culminate with a performance for the rest of the camp.
