About This Event

During our time together, you’ll have the opportunity to learn how the Western zodiac can be used to further your spiritual growth. Spiritualized Astrology is based on the assertion that the soul cannot be described by any one sign, or even by the complex relationship described in a birth chart, but encompasses all signs.

Spiritual growth takes us along two paths simultaneously: knowing the Self on an increasingly deeper level and realizing that the Self is ultimately one with infinity. Your Spiritualized birth chart will show you which aspects are yet to be discovered and which aspects are ready to be taken to the next level. With Swami Kriyananda’s book, Your Sun Sign as a Spiritual Guide, we’ll discover the “higher octaves” of each sign and how to work with those energies in ourselves.

We’ll also look at:

What effects the planets and stars have on us

What is the importance of the houses in a Spiritualized chart

How to take the energies of the stars to the highest level

How the zodiac signs relate to the chakras

Guided meditations to help you access paths of growth

Creating affirmations, and steps to integrate what you’ve learned in daily life

Your full birth chart is included in this retreat. Please be sure to have your time of birth available.

The retreat will also include opportunities for:

Journaling and introspection

Walks in nature – explore our 225 acres!

Yoga classes are available at no extra charge

One-on-one sessions with Beth, by appointment

We hope you will end the retreat feeling empowered, more centered, and with a deeper understanding of your full potential.

The Center at Ananda Laurelwood is an ideal environment to quickly “unplug” from life’s daily stresses and learn lifelong techniques for an improved quality of life. The retreat center has great energy, beautiful surroundings, and warm, open people. The food was excellent and the lodging comfortable.

Venue Highlights

The Center at Ananda Laurelwood is located 45 minutes west of downtown Portland in Oregon, surrounded by farmland, forest, and wetlands, with vistas of gently rolling hills stretching west to the coastal range. Quiet, serene, and inspiring, the landscape itself rejuvenates the soul.

The campus was originally designed and built as a residential high-school for the Seventh Day Adventist community. Retreat buildings are updated and comfortable, while retaining the charm and nostalgia of mid-century architecture.

Classrooms are sunny and bright, with plenty of room to stretch out and immerse yourself in a workshop, discussion group, or movement class.

Afternoon yoga classes are offered almost daily, year round.

Group meditations are held each morning and mid-day. Meditation instruction can be arranged.

Most of the accommodations at the Center at Ananda Laurelwood are dorm-style bedrooms with shared bathrooms down the hall. Most rooms have a sink in the corner. All rooms have ample closets and are quite spacious, light, and airy with good-sized windows looking out either across Laurelwood valley or onto the hillside above the retreat center.

You can choose your sleeping preference: twin, double, or queen bed. A small number of rooms have an en suite bathroom. A 2-bedroom apartment with kitchen and bath is also available.

Why Retreat?

We asked people why they go on retreat, here's what they said:

To find peace and renewal while going through a huge change in my life. Empty nest and the end of a 27 year marriage all at once. Susan

Retreat Guru's Vision

We believe human beings are innately wise, strong and kind. This wisdom, although not always experienced, is always present. Going on retreat is a beautiful way to reconnect to our basic sanity and health. Our aspiration at Retreat Guru is to inspire people to experience authentic retreats and reconnect with their innate wisdom, strength and kindness.
