Feldenkrais for Life: Improving your Movement

About This Event

We will cover the fundamental principles of the Feldenkrais approach and do two Awareness Through Movement lessons each day.

Each lesson has a theme that supports important movement ideas. Each day we will progress to finish with a challenging movement sequence that will promote each participant to apply the ideas beyond the workshop (modifications are used to adapt to all abilities). Practically, this means making functional movements in fun and novel sequences. We always include floor work – for example: coming to sit and stand by rolling, exploring themes around walking, reaching and balancing – while taking time each day to focus briefly on anatomy and the healthy functioning of hips, shoulders, spine, knees and feet. Some working principles are:

Applied mindfulness and self-reflection – through moving.

Working with the novelty your brain needs to learn & ad

Regaining posture that supports your health.

Reclaiming your inner resilience and applying new tools for healthier movement.

Verbally guided gentle movements anyone can do, to be applied in any context.

      Family Reunion 2018.

Our family from far and wide, had a reunion the second week of July 2018 at the Naramata Centre at Naramata BC with some of us camping and the rest of us in the motel style accommodations. We all had a great experience and a good time in an ideal setting! The staff and the accommodations were great! We plan to go back again.

Why Retreat?

We asked people why they go on retreat, here's what they said:

My inspiration is to find some very much needed solace away from the stress of raising 4 children, working (as a dietitian) and trying to get my private nutrition counseling practice launched. I am a registered yoga instructor and have practiced for over 10 yrs, and have always dreamed of taking a yoga retreat just for my own inner well being. Linda

Retreat Guru's Vision

We believe human beings are innately wise, strong and kind. This wisdom, although not always experienced, is always present. Going on retreat is a beautiful way to reconnect to our basic sanity and health. Our aspiration at Retreat Guru is to inspire people to experience authentic retreats and reconnect with their innate wisdom, strength and kindness.
