About This Event

We are so very happy to announce that once again, Dzigar Kongtrul Rinpoche will return to Gomde California to continue his series of teachings on Chokgyur Lingpa’s profound terma, the Lamrim Yeshe Nyingpo. The root text for Gomde California’s core practices, this profound teaching of Padmasambhava offers detailed instruction on the entire Buddhist path, including the preliminary practices, the generation stage and completion stage practices, and the practice of Dzogchen. Heavy with pith instructions, the Lamrim Yeshe Nyingpo can only be taught by an authentic master.

These teachings at Gomde California will be truly auspicious. The illustrious master Jamgon Kongtrul, a contemporary of Chokgyur Lingpa, authored the definitive commentary on the Lamrim Yeshe Nyingpo. Dzigar Kongtrul Rinpoche, a reincarnation of Jamgon Kongtrul, will offer instruction on this profound text to students here at Chokgyur Lingpa’s lineage center.

This will be the second in a series of teachings that will continue to unfold over many years. Please join us in receiving these truly rare and profound instructions. Dzigar Kongtrul Rinpoche will bestow the required empowerments for this teaching on Friday, June 14th, and will teach on Saturday (15th), as well as on the morning of Sunday (16th).

The Tukdrub Barchey Kunsel empowerment will begin at 3:00 pm on Friday. Registration will open at 11:00 a.m and close at 1:30 p.m. If you cannot make the drive to Gomde on Friday morning, we will once again offer an overnight stay option on Thursday, June 13th. Please see the additional rates for this option, which will correspond with the lodging option you select for the entire retreat.

Dzigar Kongtrul Rinpoche has clearly stated that in order to study this text you must have the Tukdrub Barchey Kunsel empowerment. You will not be permitted to receive these teachings unless you have received this empowerment in the past or receive it from Dzigar Kongtrul Rinpoche on June 14th. No exceptions can be made. These empowerments are also required for our upcoming 35-Day Trinley Nyingpo Retreat with Lama Tsultrim Sangpo.

We look forward to having you at Gomde for what we expect to be the beginning of a series of truly profound teachings pertaining directly to the heart of our lineage.

Rinpoche will teach the commentary on the Lamrim Yeshe Nyingpo, entitled “The Light of Wisdom Vol 1,” which can be purchased here.

Registration will open in March. An announcement will be made on Facebook and via our email list.

“There are incredible dharma blessings in every particle of Gomde … Such a spot is very, very rare to encounter in the world. The environment itself brings a great deal of peace and blessings to meditators here.” – Dzigar Kongtrul Rinpoche

Venue Highlights

Gomde is located just off Highway 101 on the outskirts of the small town of Leggett, three and a half hours drive north of San Francisco. The beautiful Eel River winds through 250 acres of woodlands, meadows and bluffs, forming several very welcome swimming holes along its course. Peaceful walking trails meander through forests of fir, madrone, redwood and oak, opening onto stunning vistas of rugged beauty.

We offer Summer seminars with Chokyi Nyima Rinpoche, Dzigar Kongtrul Rinpoche, Jetsun Khandro Rinpoche, Phakchok Rinpoche and other beloved teachers. Gomde is also home to the Dharmachakara Translation Center, accredited through the Kathmandu University. DTC offers translator training and residencies.

During the summer, most of our guests stay in our beautiful campground. We offer quiet tent spaces and furnished tent cabins with easy access to our fully appointed bath house. Why Retreat?

We asked people why they go on retreat, here's what they said:

It would my first vacation in the mountains. I think getting away and beginning a new routine would be good for me and a friend. Dianne
