7 day Yoga and Hiking Retreat in the Stunning French Alps

  • Cacholet Chalets, Cidex du pierra Menta, Val-d'Isère, France
  • Jul 28 - Aug 3, 2019 (7 days)

About This Event

Make some much needed time for yourself this summer with calming yoga and energizing hiking. Join us for an amazing week in the heart of the French Alps in beautiful Val d'Isere.

During your week with us, we will spend time restoring and nourishing the body with twice daily yoga practices (a mix of Hatha, Yin, and Restorative) which are suitable for every level of flexibility. Whether you are complete novice or a experienced yogi you will be able to practice to your own depth and intensity. Some yoga will be outside and there is the opportunity to discover the awesome power of the breath in an Alchemy of Breath workshop.

A guided hike, through different areas of the park will happen on four of the five days. These will be gentle, last around 4 - 5 hours and will take in a variety of stunning scenery - forests, lakes and passes. There are opportunities for self guided hikes of longer duration, higher elevation and greater intensity but these will be self led.

On Wednesday we have a break from hiking (and possibly food in Chalet) and do a tour round the high peaks, including the Isere Pass, Lac Sassiere and possibly the Grande Motte Glacier. We will also visit nearby Tignes and have the opportunity to eat out.

Food will be vegetarian and nourishing. There is a hot tub outside of the chalet that you will be free to use to relax those muscles after hiking.

A transfer to and from Geneva is included in the retreat price - this will leave at lunchtime on the 28th and depart early in the morning on the 3rd of August.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to get in touch.

Benedict

I was specifically looking for a yoga and walking holiday to get fitter, relax and deepen my yoga practise. This week surpassed all expectations and I feel fantastic . Ben is a great yoga teacher, has a real calmness about him and makes you explore not just the physical poses of yoga but your mental and emotional wellbeing. I am very early on in my yoga journey and Ben gave options for beginners to advanced that were suitable for all. The Breathwork was interesting and thought provoking. Jen’s food was just delicious eating very healthily every day giving the right sustenance to get through the days. I found the hiking hard but with each day I got stronger and could feel my heart pumping that fresh mountain air. The scenery is idyllic so made the hard work worth it. Doing yoga in the mountains was amazing! Ben and Jen’s company was fab and as a single traveller they made me feel very comfortable and at ease. I would thoroughly recommend this trip and Ben’s yoga.

Venue Highlights

Our retreat will be held at the Cacholet Chalets in Val d'Isere. They are located up a secluded road but only a few minutes walk from the center of Val d'Isere. They are spacious, comfortable and with spectacular views over the valley. We will be sleeping and eating in Chalet La Saulire which has a beautiful balcony and far reaching views across the valley with plenty of space to feel comfortable.

Our practice space will be right next door in Chalet Roc Merlet. This space is large enough to accommodate the group and has tea making facilities as well as lounging space for when we are not in sessions. Outside there is plenty of parking space and a hot tub which you are free to use as often as you wish!

Why Retreat?

We asked people why they go on retreat, here's what they said:

I teach yoga part time and am a mom of two toddlers full time. I love my life, but goodness do I need a break. My husband and I have been putting off our wedding ceremony for 4 years because life has gotten in the way. We haven't had a single night alone since our family has grown. I wouldn't change a thing about our lives now, but it would be so wonderful to remember what it's like to 'just be us.' Antrim

Retreat Guru's Vision

We believe human beings are innately wise, strong and kind. This wisdom, although not always experienced, is always present. Going on retreat is a beautiful way to reconnect to our basic sanity and health. Our aspiration at Retreat Guru is to inspire people to experience authentic retreats and reconnect with their innate wisdom, strength and kindness.
