About This Event
For many of us, these increasingly fast-paced and turbulent times test our ability to keep up with the demands of our lives in a way we have never experienced before. With mounting pressure coming in from all directions, and both internal and external resources stretched thin, we can be left feeling depleted, overwhelmed, and challenged in our ability to cope. This can take a toll on our health and well-being, and cause us to lose a fundamental sense of connection to ourselves and the ground of our being, especially as it is revealed and expressed through our body.
In this retreat, we will explore the concept known in Yoga Sanskrit as Shetra, or the body as a temple. Our body is a sacred vessel that houses our spirit and is the vehicle by which we can express our creative life energy. It is the source of all wisdom and knowledge, and the means by which we can experience lasting peace and joy. It is the way through which we can realize our true potential, discover who we truly are, and uncover the purpose for which were born.
A wise being once said that our body is the most important book we will ever read, but most people don’t know how to read it. Through the practices of asana, breath control, meditation, affirmation, and visualization, we will:
Learn how to interpret the signals and messages in our body and utilize them for our benefit
Focus on activating the life force (prana) lying dormant in the body for rejuvenation and healing
Attempt to connect to the Universal Cosmic Intelligence for guidance and insight as to how to handle problem situations and bring clarity and balance to our mind and emotions
Learn how to more deeply calm and relax the nervous system to listen to the still silent voice that lies at the core of our being that will allow us to live more in harmony within ourselves and world around us.
The practice will be tailored towards both beginner as well as experienced practitioners with variations provided to modify poses.
