7 Day Real Change Mindfulness Retreat (MBSR), SW France Summer 2019

About This Event

We're offering two retreats this year:
Sunday 9th - Saturday 15th June
Sunday 30th June- Saturday 6th July 2019

This retreat in the spectacular French countryside aims to help you bring more insight to your life and give you the tools to work more skilfully with life's stresses. You’ll be guided by experienced teachers in a friendly and supportive group environment. MBSR (Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction) is seen as the "gold-standard" in meditation courses and with over 30 years-worth of scientific research that consistently shows how mindfulness practices can enhance our physical and mental well-being. It can improve:

Mindfulness is about waking up to what is happening in the present moment. During your stay we will cover the 8 sessions of the Mindfulness MBSR course (Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction). There is mindful movement every day suitable for everyone, as well as guided walks in the local area, plus a trip to the local French food market.

Breakfast, lunch and dinner is provided (vegetarian), as well as healthy, tasty snacks throughout the day. Teas, juices and water are available at all times. We believe eating well is an important aspect of any retreat and we make every effort to create delicious, healthy and balanced meals.

WHY MINDFULNESS?
Mindfulness can help you with stress, anxiety and depression.
The programme we teach is Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center. It was designed to help participants learn new ways of handling difficult physical sensations, feelings and moods. During the 30 hours of classes during the week you will be provided with:

- guided instruction in mindfulness meditation practices;
- gentle stretching, yoga and mindful movement;
- group dialogue and mindful communication exercises to enhance awareness in everyday life;
-a workbook with daily assignments and home practice materials.

Price: 690 € (accommodation, meals and all the mindful meditation activities).

Schedule

A typical day- Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday

08.30-09.00 Mindful movement/gentle Yoga and a core Mindfulness practice.
09.00-10.00 Breakfast
10.00-13.30 Mindfulness sessions with break
13.30 Lunch and free time
17.00-19.00 Mindfulness sessions
19.30 Dinner
Optional evening activity

On Thursday we will visit a local food market and after lunch there will be the option to do yoga, a creative activity or have free time.

Venue Highlights

One of the joys of this retreat is the venue. Set in 1.5 hectares of land, Le Freyche has it's own heated pool open all summer.
The house sits on a small hill, overlooking two rivers that meet - no neighbors or busy roads on our doorstep - just the sound of the river and the birds.

Accommodations

We have shared accommodation in our beautifully restored French Farmhouse. Comfortable single beds, 3 bathrooms. Cozy, comfy and clean.

Menu/Cuisine

All our food is home-made including the bread!
Healthy vegetarian meals including:
- Veggie Paella, fresh tomato salad
- Wild Mushroom Risotto
- Chilli, wraps, guacamole
- Sweet Potato Curry with Basmati Rice and Popadoms
- Greek Salad- feta, cherry tomatoes, cucumber, red pepper, olive oil
- plus lots of delicious soups and salads
- yummy home-made deserts including key lime pie
- free tea, coffee and water throughout the day

Directions

Toulouse International Airport is our nearest airport. There are regular flights from Bristol and London with Easyjet, or with Vueling from Barcelona. You can then either get the airport bus to Toulouse main train station (20 minutes) and get the train to Foix, or hire a car at the airport and drive (1 hour 20 minutes).

We are situated between Foix and St Girons, close to Bastide de Serou, in a hamlet called Nescus. Toulouse is 1 hour 20 minutes away, and Barcelona is just under 4 hours by car.

You can get a train from Barcelona to Foix, via Latour de Carol. You can get a train from Toulouse to Foix and we can arrange to pick you up from there.

We include a transfer from Foix Train Station.
