About This Event

This August, Khandro Rinpoche will once again return to Rangjung Yeshe Gomde California to kindly teach on the Three Words that Strike the Vital Point, a precious instruction from the first master of the Dzogchen lineage, Garab Dorje.

These essential teachings guide the student towards recognition of the mind’s true nature, and reveal the crucial stages of training in sustaining this recognition through meditation practice.  In her vivid and engaging style, Khandro Rinpoche will directly present these teachings, some of the most beloved in the entire Dzogchen tradition, helping us to bring their profound meaning into our own personal experience.

This is a text that we can study again and again. Every time we receive such profound instruction our practice opens, our relationship to the lineage of realization deepens, and our own experience of the natural state is further clarified. We are deeply grateful to offer a venue for Khandro Rinpoche’s teachings, and look forward to sharing this time with all of you.

“There are incredible dharma blessings in every particle of Gomde … Such a spot is very, very rare to encounter in the world. The environment itself brings a great deal of peace and blessings to meditators here.” – Dzigar Kongtrul Rinpoche

Venue Highlights

Gomde is located just off Highway 101 on the outskirts of the small town of Leggett, three and a half hours drive north of San Francisco. The beautiful Eel River winds through 250 acres of woodlands, meadows and bluffs, forming several very welcome swimming holes along its course. Peaceful walking trails meander through forests of fir, madrone, redwood and oak, opening onto stunning vistas of rugged beauty.

We offer Summer seminars with Chokyi Nyima Rinpoche, Dzigar Kongtrul Rinpoche, Jetsun Khandro Rinpoche, Phakchok Rinpoche and other beloved teachers. Gomde is also home to the Dharmachakara Translation Center, accredited through the Kathmandu University. DTC offers translator training and residencies.

During the summer, most of our guests stay in our beautiful campground. We offer quiet tent spaces and furnished tent cabins with easy access to our fully appointed bath house. We also offer limited accommodation in our River House, Gate House, Tara Cottage, and Retreat Hut, as well as dormitory style lodging in our Sangha House during the Winter months.
