These yoga classes are designed for all levels, incorporating breathing, stretching, and fluid movements. The postures and techniques help to stabilize and calm the nervous system, strengthen muscles, and tone the organs, bringing more ease and circulation throughout the body. You can expect to feel more relaxed, aware, and stronger from this yoga practice.
Get a short introduction on the practice of samatha, calm abiding. This is a sitting meditation practice with instructions on posture, positioning, focus, and breathing.
HOW MIND WORKS
Explore the Buddha’s Four Noble Truths, the Eightfold Path, and how the mind works in cycles and patterns. How do we understand suffering? How can we free ourselves from suffering and the causes of suffering? How can we have the intention to free all beings from suffering? This session will give you a foundation for watching your mind and caring about your actions.
This session will include several methods from the Tibetan tradition that help to soften the mind: kum nye movement, walking, chanting, and sitting.
CALM & CLEAR: STUDY AND PRACTICE
This class will dig in to Lama Mipham’s Wheel of Analytic Meditation and Instructions on the Middle Way. Translated by Tarthang Tulku, this teaching describes the stages of meditation experience and demonstrates clearly how to combine study and practice.
SKILLFUL MEANS & CARING
Drawing wisdom from two of Tarthang Tulku’s most popular books Skillful Means and Caring, this discussion will offer new ways of approaching your life, work, and relationships in the modern era. How can you watch your mind? How can you respond to your circumstances with wisdom and compassion?
