About This Event

This is more than your regular yoga-beach-repeat retreat. My guru always told me: 'Take care of yoga for 2 hours a day, and yoga will take care of you for the other 22 hours.' This retreat is specifically designed to help fix the issue of this century - computer shoulders and cell-phone necks, and to manage any kind of back pain - from lumbago to neck sprains.

In only 7 days you'll obtain priceless knowledge of osteopathy and self-massage. You’ll become acquainted with a unique set of Japanese and Chinese methods to cure back pain, as well as yoga asanas, acupressure mats, and other techniques used by ancient gurus and yogis in India for healing. You will reboot energy, send fresh blood to the right directions, break old incorrect patterns of sitting, standing and walking, and create an overall awareness of the body alignment. This knowledge you can carry off the mat, into your life.

Most importantly, you don’t have to be good at it, you just need to finally show up for yourself and start paving the path to a healthy body and quiet mind today.

Venue Highlights

The Zazil can be found in the charming little beach village of San Agustinillo on the Pacific coast of the state of Oaxaca in Southern Mexico. The area of San Agustinillo and Mazunte is considered a "Magical Village" (Pueblo Mágico)since 2015. It is a privileged destination to enjoy the Pacific coast among history, culture and nature. The combination of half-empty beaches and moderate prices makes this up-and-coming area very attractive for travelers, who are looking for a safe journey but ready to explore beyond the popular Mexican beach areas.

The Zazil Retreat is set in a quiet, relaxed hilltop along the sea awash with gentle breezes of fresh sea air against a thick canopy of trees, hidden from eyes of locals and visitors, but within a 7-minute walk to the beach, the main street and restaurants. Rise to birds chirping and rest at night to the soft sounds waves and crickets. Zazil is a place to harmonize your senses with all the effects of the natural surroundings.

Lodge in one of nine large, private rooms with breathtaking panoramic terrace views. Resting behind rooms is the Mexican Sierra Madre Mountains. Each room is a Mexican ‘palapa’ structure with typical high ceilings made of tropical hardwoods thickly covered with dried palm leaves. This type of construction respects and honors the regional identity endemic to Oaxacan coastal architecture.

Directions

Bahías de Huatulco International Airport (HUX) ( ~ 32 km)

There are several ways. First, you can take a taxi from inside the airport directly to us, but this is the most expensive option and will probably be around 800 pesos. Or, you can exit the airport and walk 200 meters to the road outside the airport. From here you can take a private taxi (with good bargaining maybe around 550 pesos) directly to us, or to Pochutla and transfer to public transportation in Pochutla. Your last option is to exit the airport and find a shared taxi to Pochutla, which should cost around 40 pesos, and from there take a taxi (150 pesos) or colectivo (15 pesos) to San Agustinillo.

Puerto Escondido International Airport (PXM) ( ~ 62 km)

Walk out of the airport to the road, cross the street, and take a private taxi directly to San Agustinillo (about 500 pesos). Or, take a colectivo (trucks with blue tarp roofing over back – 10 pesos) into the center of Puerto Escondido. From there you can catch a bus (in the direction of Pochutla or Huatulco) from near the SuperChe supermarket (40 pesos). Ask the driver to drop you off at Las Cruces de San Antonio (it’s the crossroads where the OXXO convenience store is located). From here you can take a taxi or colectivo for 10 pesos into San Agustinillo. Or, a more expensive bus also leaves from the bus station.
