In the evening, true peace reveals itself during Satsang with Madhukar: Thoughts fade and give way to inner silence. And that is your greatest bliss in this marvelous idyll!

Satsang, consisting of meditative silence and support, is held twice daily.
Let‘s explain: Satsangs are gatherings where busy minds cool down. Through silence, meditation, dialogue, music and perhaps ecstatic dance.

Optionally you can participate in daily Yoga classes in stunning nature.
You are welcome to join!

Guru Purnima is the shining highlight of the retreat. These three full moon days are a celebration of pure joy and sincere gratitude. The festive ceremony is based on an established ancient eastern ritual. Traditionally, the Guru is venerated as the expeller of ignorance since he frees you from ignorance and the chains of attachment. He lightens and enlightens you and your life, and bestows his blessing on you.

Venue Highlights

During this retreat, you will be staying in the beautiful Tuscany-style villa of the family-run farmstead Le Pianore. Set in the heart of the Tuscan Maremma, not far from the medieval village of Monticello Amiata, the picturesque country estate lies surrounded by gently rolling hills with deep chestnut woods, olive groves and daring trails.

Le Pianore, with its spectacular views and untouched landscapes, is an IMC certified organic farmstead with more than 80 % of their energy coming from renewable sources. All water destined for agricultural use, including irrigation of the vegetable gardens, comes directly from their own spring.

There is a swimming pool amidst untouched nature, beautiful terraces, and you get served home-cooked Tuscan meals, straight from the garden to the table.

Monticello Amiata is a village in the Maremma, an area in Tuscany, central Italy, and is administratively a part of the comune of Cinigiano, province of Grosseto.

The village is embedded in the magical landscapes of southern Tuscany and is surrounded by breath-taking medieval villages. The Maremma is full of attractions, historical sites and enchanting landscapes. The love mountain Monte Amiata, the nearby sea and its natural beaches, not least the famous cuisine and the wine, invite you to ‘Dolce Vita’, the sweet life of ‘Bella Italia’.

One of the Maremma’s most popular tourist attraction is the Saturnia hot springs. Sulphuric water springs form large pools with a temperature of 37.5° C. The large basin above the waterfall bestows a dreamlike atmosphere. Access to the pools is public and free throughout the year.

Distances in km: Cinigiano ~12, Grosseto ~ 50, Siena ~ 70, Capalbio/Tarot Garden ~105, Florence ~145, Rom ~240. The closest beaches are Marina di Grosseto and Castiglione della Pescaia, driving distance ~1 hour.

Being exclusive guests in the wide valley, we live in the charming villa of Le Pianore in the idyllic ambience of the South of Tuscany. We have no immediate neighbours, so we are enjoying total privacy.

We stay in 2 and 3 bedrooms. The rooms have traditional terracotta floors, deliciously cool underfoot in summer, and almost all have en-suite bathrooms and direct access to the garden.
The entire estate is a non-smoke area. It has a swimming pool amidst untouched nature, beautiful terraces and living rooms, inviting you to chill and relax and feeling at home.

Why Retreat?

We asked people why they go on retreat, here's what they said:

My last retreat at SMC was so inspiring and so relaxing. But i'd love to have more time there to spend at the Stupa, visit the Kami shrine, and generally interact with the beautiful enlightened society happening on that entire land. Brett
