About This Event

Certifications

Students who complete their subsequent trainings are eligible to register with Yoga Alliance as Registered Yoga Teachers (RYT®)

In this Yoga Alliance approved yoga teacher training, you will tap into your inner goddess, uncover your confidence, and learn the skills you need to teach amazing classes to all types of students that leave will your clients feeling great.

You'll learn how to cue effectively, modify poses, sequence and plan classes, talk about proper alignment, and find your niche.

Yoga is for everyone and every body.

You don't need to be stick thin, young, or flexible to do or teach yoga. Crystal is on a mission to guide new yoga teachers, just like you, so the power of yoga reaches everyone.

Not only will you learn how to be a unique and highly knowledgeable yoga teacher, but you'll also discover so much about yourself and your practice. You'll grow in ways you didn't know was possible! Crystal will show you how to become the woman you were born to be.

Program

Each day you'll enjoy a nice, long morning yoga practice designed to help you feel the benefits of yoga in your own body so you can more deeply help your students. Delicious, nourishing food will be served throughout the day to keep you at optimal wellness for learning and practicing. After breakfast, you'll dive into the manual then get into a few poses each day which you'll then start practice teaching right away to build confidence and find your voice.

After lunch, the heat is in full effect. Take this time to take a dip in the pool, hang out in the tree house shala or take a nap. Follow that up with some coffee then digging into your assigned reading homework in the comfort of your own air-conditioned room or by the pool. At 2:45 p.m., you'll reconvene for an art therapy session to help you digest what is coming up for you in training as well as teach you how to bring art into your workshops or private sessions.

After working hard all day, you'll head down to the beach. There's nothing better than finishing off the day with warm waves running over your tired body! It really washes away any stress from the day. Head back to the retreat center, shower up and it's time for a beautiful dinner followed by finishing up some homework either solo or with a group. You'll be sure to sleep well after that!

In this training, you'll get way more than you ever thought possible. You'll not only learn so much more about your personal practice and how to teach yoga extremely well, but you'll also uncover a lot of what is holding you back from really stepping into your full potential. This is an investment in you and your growth, not just a certificate.

Yoga for Trauma

Learn the basics of teaching trauma-informed yoga. More and more people are starting to come to yoga classes that are suffering from trauma and it's important to know how to teach them because they really need the gifts of yoga.

Restorative yoga

Restorative yoga has many benefits. The major one is that it gives the body and mind an opportunity to completely relax. This is important as we are always going, going, going - spending a lot of our time in "fight or flight" mode. When our bodies have the chance to tap into the parasympathetic nervous system, it can heal. Restorative yoga is an amazing class on its own or a great way to end a more physical practice.

Difficulty levels

All levels welcome. You do not need to be able to do advanced poses to be in this training. You must have a willingness to learn the course material.

This experience was one in a million. The retreat centre was beautiful. Maria and Scanda are wonderful hosts. The food is delicious. The yoga itself was amazing and Crystal is a wonderful instructor. I learned so much and would do it all over again!

What's Not Included

Flight

We recommend that you fly in the day before, on January 4th, and get a room at the Hilton Garden Inn near the Liberia (LIR), Costa Rica, airport. This room isn't included though we can assist in finding a roommate to cut costs.

The food served at Malayka has been the highlight of many of our guests! The food is incredible and they cater to many dietary needs. Meat can be added as needed though most is vegetarian with gluten free options at all meals.

Directions

Malayka Retreat Centre is approximately 2 hours drive from Liberia International Airport.
Airport transfers are included.
It is recommended that you fly in the day before and stay at the Hilton Garden Inn. Shuttles will pick up at the hotel or airport at 9am.

      Life Changing-Attending the Yoga Goddess Training With Crystal Gray

    I am an artist and an art therapist and I have always used movement and music and different expressive therapies in my practice. When I met Crystal Gray and decided to take the leap to attend the 200 hour yoga teacher training I never realized it would be life-changing. I hadn’t really ever even practiced yoga consistently and when I expressed this Crystal was warm, inviting and encouraging making me feel at ease to attend the training. I signed up started practicing, reading the required materials, and studying terminology and the manual that Crystal provided. I bought my plane ticket in a few months later I was on the plane to Costa Rica. The first day we gathered at a hotel and met all of the other participants. It was comfortable and as if the group had always known each other. The next morning we were picked up at the hotel by the owners of the retreat property. We drove to the property in the van talking and getting to know each other and as we arrived I was blown away in its beauty. Surrounded by the jungle, a beautiful ocean view and comfortable air-conditioned and cozy cabanas, I felt safe relaxed and cared for. The staff made me feel like part of the family, creating delicious meals made with locally sourced ingredients and always making sure to meet everyone’s dietary requirements easily and graciously. The daily training started early at 6 AM when we went through a practice of yoga for an hour to an hour and a half. Being an inexperienced Yogi, Crystal's explanation, demonstration and mindful awareness of each students needs made me feel comfortable and confident that I could complete this training and by the end even want to be a yoga instructor. We studied hard, practiced together, shared delicious meals, laugh together, shared stories, Took a trip to the beach daily and a special trip and hike to the waterfall. (Which I did not partake in but I will when I attend the retreat in January 2020). During the training as I was feeling like the newbie and someone said to me “we don’t come to yoga because we are already perfect we come to yoga because of our many imperfections.” After hearing that from a wise most mature woman on the trip I open myself up to the process of becoming a yogi. Upon returning from the training I begin teaching, Received more training in restorative yoga and incorporated yoga practices into my art therapy practice with clients Everything about the yoga teacher training with Crystal Gray and the Yoga Goddess Collective was truly outstanding and doing it in Costa Rica allowed me to focus completely on the training-which helped immensely. I felt confident to begin implementing all I had learned immediately. Being part of Crystal’s Facebook group keeps us connected and continues our learning and supports us in our dreams and goals in yoga and in life. I highly recommend this training. I received many compliments from other yoga teachers on my alignment in my own practice and in my ability to adjust students in a safe and caring way.
