Bali Advanced Training for Teachers
- This training is designed to bring existing teachers together to go deeper into principles of practice, and deeper into how to tailor practice to your students, and how to teach in a natural, relaxed, authentic way without creating the “social dynamic of disempowerment.” We will cover how to survive and stay authentic and not reactive as the west experiments with Yoga as commodity. We become solid in our practice and teaching and then cut through the bullshit like an elegant boat slipping through the water, never looking back.
About This Event
Join master teacher Mark Whitwell for this eight and a half-day immersion in the heart of Yoga as passed on from "the teacher of the teachers," Tirumalai Krishnamacharya. This training is for practicing teachers (whether enthusiastically active or disillusioned and lost within the Yoga world) and existing graduates of a Heart of Yoga teacher training.
What is advanced? What does that mean? Mark takes the lead from his teacher T.K.V. Desikachar, who said: “The success of Yoga does not lie in the ability to perform postures but in how it positively changes the way we live our life and our relationships.” This comes through correct engagement of the principles of breath, which makes your Yoga entirely your own: efficient, powerful, safe, and not a struggle to get anywhere, as if you are not somewhere.
Advanced yoga, then, is the ability to practice oneself as direct intimacy with the nurturing power of the cosmos that is our always-present reality, and feel solid and assured within this intimate connection with all. And then to be able to share this technology of connection in non-hierarchical, practical, caring, and effective ways, respecting each person for the unique arising of life that they are.
This training is designed to bring existing teachers together to go deeper into principles of practice, and deeper into how to tailor practice to your students, and how to teach in a natural, relaxed, authentic way without creating the “social dynamic of disempowerment.” We will cover how to survive and stay authentic and not reactive as the west experiments with Yoga as commodity. We become solid in our practice and teaching and then cut through the bullshit like an elegant boat slipping through the water, never looking back.
All body types, ages, cultures, sexual orientations, genders, experience levels and backgrounds are welcome (within above restrictions).
Advanced yoga means making your practice truly pleasurable and transformative, using the principles from the great tradition, and stepping into the mission of sharing this with others. It is easy and it is for everyone. If a person can breathe, they can do yoga.
