About This Event

Step off the beaten path and immerse yourself in a fun introductory course to permaculture. Located in the jungle of Platanillo near the Pacific coast, Valley of Dreams Eco Lodge offers a 7-day, all-inclusive permaculture design workshop paired with our locally sourced whole food-plant based organic cooking classes. This class offers an introduction to permaculture, and opportunity to visit various permaculture farms in our community and develop culinary skills in preserving and fermentation to manage large harvests.

Introductory permaculture will provide you with a skill set you can take home and implement in your own garden. It will focus on ways to implement permaculture into daily life. You will learn about the role that animals play in permaculture, will learn about composting, bio-fermentation and nitrogen fixing trees and plant. We will discuss tree selection and you will learn the differences between grafted trees versus trees from seeds. We will explore seed propogation, visit permaculture farms and you will leave this course with a skill set to successfully create your own permaculture garden.

The culinary pairing of the course will specialize in pickling, fermentation, making kefir and dosas. Valley of Dreams Specialized Retreats offers a farm to table approach for all guests to participate in. Foods will be sourced on-site or from local permaculture farms in the area. Guests will be provided with recipes and a permaculture design.
