Roots of Change: Interfaith Young Women's Conference
About This Event
For young women, ages 18-30.
In the nexus of all our identities, being a person of faith within a post-modern, technological, pluralist society can be a challenge. We want to use our skills, passion and wisdom – and collaborate with other communities - to create a just society. Who and what am I called to be? How can I be an agent of change in the world? Where do my deepest joys meet the world’s deepest hungers? Above all, how does my faith intersect with my life choices and pathways?
Join other young women, from different faiths, who are asking the same kinds of questions that you are. Guest speakers and mentors for the weekend include a team of leaders from different fields whose work is informed by and rooted in their faith tradition; women such as:
A University president who is an artist and an interfaith collaborator,
A Muslim stand-up comedian and film producer
A Mennonite whose vocation is connected to Indigenous justice and to lgbtq+ rights in sacred spaces
A priest who engages theology, science and philosophy in her ministry
A Muslim whose work intersects politics and public education
Thanks to a generous grant we are able to offer a sliding scale that ranges from $40 - $250: whatever you can afford, for the whole weekend. We want to make this program as accessible as possible.
Join us at the beginning of Winter Reading week: Friday, February 14 – Monday, February 17, 2020 at the beautiful Five Oaks Centre near Brantford, Ontario.
Accommodations are in double rooms and meals and conference fees are included in the sliding scale price.
Food requirements such as Halal, Vegan, Vegetarian and most dietary sensitivities/allergies can easily be accommodated by our on-site chef. Please indicate your needs on the on-line registration form.
