A message from your guides

We are called to serve medicine in sacred ceremony with integrity, humility, and compassion. By creating a safe space and working only with experienced, well-intentioned healers and facilitators, we uphold the lessons of the medicines and build a foundation of mutual trust, authenticity, and respect. We are not gurus, preachers, or enlightened beings – our healers are maestros who humbly transmit the knowledge and healing energies of the plants, and our facilitators are devoted to helping guests face, process, and explore difficult experiences and emotions, handle projections, manage expectations, and surrender to the process. We strive to uphold the highest integrity in everything we do and be a beacon for responsible, safe, and ethical practices, such that our guests feel safe and supported to get the most out of their healing.

Details of the retreat

This 12-day inclusive plant medicine retreat interweaves ritual, embodied movement, vocal sound healing, voice activation and Shipibo cosmovision for an unforgettable journey of transformation. You will be supported to shed unneeded belief patterns and connect to the free and joyful expression of your essence.

Classes and daytime sessions aim to support and inform the work in ceremony and create a deeper connection to the energetic realms of the plants and the Shipibo culture. The journey will unfold guided by myths and stories of the Shipibo Maestros about their ancestral cosmovision – stories that reveal the origins of the medicine as well as teachings about the worlds of the water, earth and heavens. Using these stories as inspiration, Jessica will guide the group in practices of free movement and dance, meditative awareness, voice activation and collective ritual. This retreat aims to support you to free your authentic expression, nourish joyful creativity and learn to connect to the elements to create health, harmony and balance in your daily life.

Join us to explore the following themes:

  • Transcending the fear of being “not good enough” and accessing free and joyful expression.
  • Opening to playfulness and connection
  • Igniting your creative fire and building your reservoir of creative “juice” and inspiration
  • Using your voice as a tool to clear, repair and restore your vibratory field
  • Freeing your authentic voice
  • Practicing reciprocity with nature and nourishing life with creative beauty
  • Learning about Shipibo cosmovision and the ancestral stories which reveal the mysteries of the medicine
  • Connecting to the power of the elements and learning to harness and harmonize with the energies of life.

Unforgettable experience!

Top notch staff! From the healers, facilitators, chef, to support staff everyone was warm, welcoming, and absolute professionals. Pristine location with 5-star amenities. This experience was life changing and the deepest of human connections were formed in just a week. Please keep the group sizes the same or smaller as it allowed us to go so deep and keep things very intimate, making it so memorable and creating lifelong friendships. So grateful for your commitment to healing, growth, and the ancient traditions of plant medicine.read more

Beautiful, Healing, and Safe! Highly recommended!

Wow... I am not too sure where to start. I attended a week-long retreat (Jan 5th – 12th) at Soltara in Costa Rica. It was such a profound, beautiful, and healing experience! If you're feeling called to work with plant medicines, I highly recommend checking Soltara out! What drew me to Soltara originally was the testimonials that close friends/colleagues provided. After hearing about their positive experiences at the retreat, I decided to dig in a little deeper to learn more about their organization. The second thing that really stood out for me was their advisory board. When I saw that Dr. Gabor Maté, Dr. Dennis McKenna, Dr. Bia Labate, and Dr. Clancy Cavnar are on the advisory board, I immediately felt Soltara might be a special place. The container (the physical space and the emotional/psychological space) felt very safe and nourishing. The level of safety and care that the facilitators and staff provide really stood out to me. Taking the plunge to explore plant medicines is never easy and takes a bit of courage. The staff and Soltara created an environment where it felt safe to let go and to really trust the process. Again, I highly recommend checking out Soltara if the journey to explore plant medicine calls you. If you want to listen to a debrief of my experience, you can listen to the following podcast episode to hear more about my experience at Soltara - https://bit.ly/36XIcvZ Many thanks to the team at Soltara for creating such a beautiful space for people to explore and heal!read more

Why Retreat?

We asked people why they go on retreat, here's what they said:

Reconnecting with myself after a very crazy few months with a new baby! Just having that feeling of being grounded again. But also having an opportunity to connect with new amazing people. Getting exposed and Inspired by new (to me) yoga instructors (and community). Being in the presence of real, authentic and raw emotion (the whole spectrum).. So many reasons! Alyson
