InwardBound June 2020 Group Retreat- Cancelled due to Covid 19
About This Event
5-Day Psychedelic Retreat
Our June 2020 retreat takes place in a luxury venue situated in a nature reserve an hour from Amsterdam. The authentic 19th-century Dutch abbey accommodation provides the perfect setting for your 5-day retreat. A private room for every participant and the ample common areas provide a place for you to relax, journal and maximise your stay with us. The peaceful location of the retreat centre means there is plenty of opportunity for reflection, trips to the nature reserve and long walks on the beach. The chapel is available for private reflection and meditation.
Our summer retreat will take full advantage of the accommodation with plenty of opportunities for nature connection in the local woods and sunny walks on the beach. The gathering will be reflective, nourishing and will provide the perfect container for a healing and nourishing group journey.
During the 5-day retreat we will have 2 sessions with psilocybin truffles, complemented by a range of activities designed to maximise your experience and affect lasting change in your life.
This forms the focal point of our Psychedelic Retreat Programme.
This is what a typical programme looks like. Every participant is different and some activities may naturally suit some participants more than others. There's plenty of time for reflection and time in nature and there's no expectation to attend every activity.

At InwardBound, our interdisciplinary team of psychotherapists, PhD scientists and holistic therapists believe in weaving together the threads of science and spirituality, knowing that the two ways are one. We work in the broad tradition of Dr Stan Grof - creating a safe container for people to access the wisdom of their own inner healer.
We come from a long tradition of psilocybin use in Ireland. Our Celtic ancestors used the wild mushrooms of Northern Europe (Psilocybe Semilanceata) and worked with the patterns of nature for healing and spiritual growth and we continue that land-based ancestral tradition to create a modern context for psilocybin ceremony and reconnection with nature.
We hold small groups with five facilitators (a balance of male and female) to a maximum of 14 participants. This low ratio allows us to provide the highest possible standard of care for our participants. Private rooms are available on most retreats.

I did a retreat in Amsterdam in late 2019 and I simply could not speak more highly of the facilitators Rob and David. I am a family therapist that has done many a retreat in my life and this has been absolutely one of the best. The pace, the programme, the divine food, the setting - all were above par. It is now some six months later and not a week goes by when I do not think of my experience in that cottage in the forest. It still packs a punch. I am based in Australia so it's a tad far to go again, but if Inward Bound were any closer, or should they come to Australia, I would jump at the chance to work with these facilitators again. If you have a chance to go along, go for it. With big mob love and thanks to all at Inward Bound, Kelly

i came in to IB feeling very hectic and distraught. my mom had just gotten into an accident, i was coming off my mental health meds (as they started to increase my stress levels for some reason), and with the failing of my meds, came a deep sense of hopelessness. it just felt like modern thought and medicine had no real answers for me. all of it helped - faith, therapy, and for a time the medications - but none of it really got at my issues. it really felt like there was something almost mechanically wrong with me, as well as spiritually/emotionally. like some switches weren't firing in my brain. i was drawn to IB because the data suggested that psilocybin enabled your brain to physically change. and the studies showed a very profound and encompassing experience when the mushrooms were applied correctly. it wasn't just a quick fix but something that went deep. i traveled solo to amsterdam, which made me anxious. traveling also gave me anxiety. i also had trouble with intimacy at almost all levels (friendship, family, romance). this meant that being alone, with 11 other strangers, in a foreign country, preparing to have a potentially profound personal experience, left me feeling starkly vulnerable. i even had a slight panic attack half way through the retreat. i was definitely a mess. and yet, i think all of those things made my journey that much more profound. after all, these were not unfamiliar feelings. this discomfort was specifically why i had made the journey in the first place. my psilocybin journeys were difficult. they were painful. they made me look at things that i had never let myself look at before. i decided to go into all the scary rooms of my mind - the doors of death, panic, despair, sickness. with the training sessions given before from the counselors, i was able to navigate these rooms and find insight. there were times when i was feverish, sweating; my body was almost alive on its own, suddenly contracting, limbs stabbing out into space, now huddled, now splayed. but through it all, i felt safe. the facilitators controlled the space superbly. i knew that i could go into the dark places because i was well protected. i felt some kind of release from that very physical experience that i can't quite describe. i still feel it now, about 3 weeks later. it's a looseness that wasn't there before. that tiny bit of space in my brain has allowed me to reshuffle some things. there are changes in how i deal with stress. it's hard to describe, but it was like the fear of stress was worse than the stress. before the journey, i felt my stress and strong emotions as paralyzing and something to try and expunge. now, i try to welcome it. i try to feel the panic and ride it like a roller coaster. again, it's so hard to put into words. but the lessons were deep. and the ability to change felt more at your fingertips, rather than something far away. i feel that i have a path forward now. it's like someone emptied out all the drawers in my mind, and now i get to reorganize things. it's an amazing and slightly bewildering feeling. you'll often think, "wait, how do i do this again?" when it comes to processing emotions and decision making. it's pretty wild, but also invigorating, scary, and refreshing. i can't say enough about this experience and the team that facilitated. don't try this at home. have a team of experienced and loving guides with you. anyone can pop some shrooms at home and hallucinate a little. but it's the preparation and application that unlocks the power of the fungi. this is a serious journey that can change you in fundamental and surprising ways. i feel this journey is one that every human should make. we should all peal back the veil of our souls and look deeply within. what you will find will not only connect you more to yourself, but somehow to all of humanity. it may be hard to believe, but that is what happened for me.

I had been using Mind Body Medicine to heal from a chronic pain syndrome. The InwardBound retreat was the perfect complimentary medicine. I found I was safely guided to my inner healer, where I was able to release repressed emotions from the unconscious. I came home feeling lighter, brighter and more connected to my capacity to be loving and loved.

The facilitators worked hard to create a safe and healing environment. The experience was magical and transformative. Venue and Food were amazing, and communication was excellent both before and after as well as during the retreat. Highly recommended.

Like all spiritual and psychedelic journeys it's hard to put into words what the experience is so that others may understand and connect to it. From the moment I arrived to the moment I left I felt held. I felt safe. The welcome I received on arrival carried through the whole weekend. Darragh, Dave, Rob and Pixie are unique and beautiful souls and each of them brought their own magic to, and shared in an experience that was embodied, deep and loving. Their skill and experience soothed my anxieties. Their attentiveness and care opened me. I trusted them. They each have something different to offer. Their knowledge of psychedelic truffles, psychology, yoga, embodiment dance, somatic practices, holding space in sharing circles, great food and fun while doing work on myself helped me see a new way of being. The weekend was so diverse and well organised....it's technology for the soul....all were very keen to know our experiences and to help us to become more. The retreat was a beautiful step on my continuing journey of self realisation and healing. Thanks!!

I would highly recommend InwardBound to anybody who is considering psychedelic therapy. They are very experienced, safety conscious and trustworthy company. The weekend was extremely well run and the facilitators were very friendly and professional. They were able to answer any questions you had and address any concerns. 5 stars, couldn't recommend it enough.
