Venue Highlights

Excuse yourself from our Jungle Paradise for a local Excursion.
Most guests never want to leave our Sanctuary but if they do there are many local fun and exciting excursions to be had. Zip-line through a jungle canopy, hike through the forest, surf the warm Pacific waters, maybe snorkel around a tiny island, or even dip under a waterfall, but no matter the choice the best thing about leaving The Sanctuary is coming back to Her.

Life is full of choices. Make the best ones.
Life needs change in order for growth and transformation to occur. Actions speak much louder than words. When your actions align with a purpose magical things result.

Grow & Transform Naturally

Tropical. Modern. Zen.

The Sanctuary at Two Rivers Yoga Retreat & Yoga Teacher Training Center in Costa Rica can accommodate up to 16 individuals. We offer two types of Eco-Chic accommodations: Jungle Lofts and Studio Houses. Each type has its own unique qualities, size, bed options, and layout. All houses are set amongst picturesque tropical gardens with observation decks, hammocks and wonderful jungle vistas. They are powered by our high-tech Solar Power system, have green lighting, spectacular outdoor solar hot water showers with garden views, ceiling fans, and screened in walls giving you an up-close and intimate experience with Nature.

Jungle loft
Modern. Spacious. Lofts.
Tropical Modern Zen Jungle Lofts are sensitively green-designed to harmonize within the natural environment, providing a comfortable up-close and very personal experience with Nature, exclusively at The Sanctuary at Two Rivers Yoga Retreat & Yoga Teacher Training Center in Costa Rica.

Each of our six Jungle Lofts places each guest at eye level with the forest canopy and her passing monkeys, singing tropical birds, and scented floral trees. Plenty of room to perch yourself on a hammock at canopy eye level with your favorite book, a pair of binoculars, digital camera and a glass of fresh mountain spring water. Screened-in open-faced walls allow for vintage viewing, excellent ventilation, and pleasurable sun and moonlight. Refreshingly cool slate stone supports the ambiance to relax, recharge, and reconnect.

Onwards and upwards in your own private tropical paradise. Upstairs in the bedroom mezzanine, guest beds have an unencumbered view to the jungle.

In the spacious bathroom and private dressing area there is ample sink shelf space for each guest. And right outside is a tropical garden view solar hot water shower with great pressure and wide shower head.

All of these Jungle Lofts are of a townhouse design with two lofts side-by-side. Each accommodates two individuals; each guest in a single twin bed, or combined to form a king bed.

Tropical. Modern. Fusion.

Food Glorious Food.
Time = Energy = Love. This equation is how we approach health and wellness through the Culinary Arts & Sciences. Allow us to take you on a magic carpet dining ride! You will never believe that we could blast your taste buds on that wild of a journey.

Organic. Original. Orgasmic.

Artistic-gourmet vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free cuisine comprises one of the pillars which supports, nourishes, detoxes, and cleanses you on a Yoga Teacher Training Certification Program or Yoga Retreat Vacation in Costa Rica.

We are proud to say that Gaia Gourmet exclusively caters all of the YTT’s and Retreats held at The Sanctuary. Gaia Gourmet’s talented plant-based chef creates three unforgettable vegetarian or vegan meals per day inspired by the world’s greatest cuisines. Their healthy organic food is artistically crafted to please all of the senses. Meals are designed around the seasons using Ayurvedic principles while incorporating the best and freshest local ingredients, herbs and spices. We procure and serve all organic produce from local Costa Rican family farms. Our meals are well balanced and prepared with love. This positive energy is infused into the food, aiding the digestion process.

Gaia Gourmet Cuisine provides plenty of protein by using legumes, seeds and nuts, artisan cheeses, and eggs from free-ranging chickens. They only use whole grains and natural sweeteners. With an ever-expanding orchard of over 300 various tropical fruit trees, our freshly picked organic fruits also make great complements to your dining experience. Overall, this will produce a more lively healthy body and mind and is the most environmentally friendly diet.

We always do our best to accommodate food allergies. We can omit certain items from dishes, such as cheese, dairy, and nuts. We cannot guarantee a completely gluten-free or nut-free environment. Persons with serious food allergies such as Celiac's Disease or those on a 100% raw food diet should not attend a retreat. We must know of all serious food issues at least three weeks prior to arrival. Bring an open mind and allow your taste buds to savor this unique culinary adventure!

Easy. Easy. Easy.
It is very easy to get here with a 25 minute flight from San Jose International Airport to Tambor Airstrip where a taxi will drive you through the famous Nicoya Peninsula Blue Zone to our Yoga Retreat Costa Rica & Yoga Teacher Training Certification Program Center. All guests must arrive at The Sanctuary no later than 4:00 pm on arrival day; please schedule your travel accordingly.

Flying In and Out of Costa Rica at San Jose International Airport
San Jose International Airport (SJO) is the most convenient airport to The Sanctuary. Frequent international flights are available at this modern airport.

For your travel, plan at least two hours between local air and international travel.

By Local Air to Tambor, then by Taxi to The Sanctuary at Two Rivers
The best local airline that offers scheduled flights and charter services to Tambor Airstrip is Sansa. The flight time is 25 minutes. Check for flights on Sansa Airlines, Costa Rica Green Airways and Aerobell . The domestic terminal is a 5 minute walk from the exit of the International Airport for Sansa and Costa Rica Green Airways. Aerobel’s terminal is a 20 minute taxi ride from SJO in Pavas so plan accordingly.

Please allow at least 1.5 hours from your International arrival time in order to clear Immigration and Customs and to check-in for the Domestic flight.

By Land to The Sanctuary
An option to flying, we can prearrange land transportation (shuttle bus for a group or private taxi for individuals) from San Jose directly to The Sanctuary via roads and a ferry that crosses Nicoya Bay to the Nicoya Peninsula. This might be economical for a large group and is approx. 5 hours. Prices start at $260.

Individuals can book their own shuttle through Montezuma Expeditions or Tropical Tours for approx. $50. Shuttles leave San Jose early every morning and will bring you directly to The Sanctuary. This is about a 6 hour trip.

We do not recommend renting a car.

Why Retreat?

We asked people why they go on retreat, here's what they said:

My inspiration is to find some very much needed solace away from the stress of raising 4 children, working (as a dietitian) and trying to get my private nutrition counseling practice launched. I am a registered yoga instructor and have practiced for over 10 yrs, and have always dreamed of taking a yoga retreat just for my own inner well being. Linda

Retreat Guru's Vision

We believe human beings are innately wise, strong and kind. This wisdom, although not always experienced, is always present. Going on retreat is a beautiful way to reconnect to our basic sanity and health. Our aspiration at Retreat Guru is to inspire people to experience authentic retreats and reconnect with their innate wisdom, strength and kindness.
