      Quality shamanism

Late last month I attended a long dance healing ceremony with San Pedro near La Paz led by Tupak Wayra Runa who works with Casa Ajayu. I am forever grateful to Wayra for leading with the right balance of care and confidence that we would all get through the ceremony and learn from the experience. His love and passion for the Aymara healing knowledge really shows and the ceremony was as authentic as I hoped. I only wish I would have been able to take part in the larger program! Being a musician, I can also say the role the music played was important and of the highest quality. It felt like each song had it’s place and matched the energy of the circle. The experience has left a mark and I feel like it’s only the beginning of a better understanding of my roots, my journey, and the love of the universe. Infinitamente gracias, y hasta la próxima Wayra. Jallalla hermano!

      Amazing healer

I had some difficult experiences, but the result is fantastic. Wayra told me to don't let walk over me in life and after some months I can say that I succeeded. At the end of the retreat Wayra knows your problems and helps you with it. You can ask personal advice during the retreat. The ceremonies are very traditional and with lots of love! Aho

Retreat in the Bolivian Amazon - Wizard's Mountain Jungle Lodge

The Wizard Mountain Jungle Lodge, located in a beautiful patch of dense forest in the Bolivian Amazon, proved the perfect setting for my first real ayahuasca retreat, and I couldn't be more happy to have begun here. The retreat itself comprises a few large, and key, huts - a dormitory, bathroom, the kitchen and eating area, and that of the ritual - each of which perfectly served the natural simplicity and beauty of the position and its surrounds. And whether at night or during the day, one could always feel or sense the proximity of a range of beautiful and exotic creatures and flora, with all their strange scents and sounds - something that no doubt contributed to the 'authenticity' of the ayahuasca experience that was to come. One thing about the way in which Phillip, a warm and personable Chilean, prepared us for the ceremony that I liked was the quiet walk, complete with guided tour of the various plants and animals along the way, that ended with a very tranquil meditation amid the steps of a soft, trickling waterfall somewhere deep in the jungle. The ceremony: At no time did I feel unsafe during the ceremony. I felt as if I was in very capable hands and could therefore relax and give myself over to the experience of the ayahuasca. And now, after having undergone several ceremonies, I can say that Phillip definitely did a very good job of leading our group through the various stages of the journey. One thing that was particular to Phillip's ceremonies, too, that I also liked was the variety of instruments, sounds and icaros (songs) he put to use, each of which brought on and carried us all to new sensations and revelations. Overall it was a very beautiful and healing introduction to ayahuasca for me, one that I would recommend to anyone. As well, I would also recommend hanging around a bit longer at the retreat afterwards if you can - walking around through the forest, swimming in the river or hiking up the mountain felt great in the days that followed (much better than going straight back to reality). Thanks Phillip and everyone for everything and I hope to see you again someday! Andy (Australia)

      The International Shaman

It is really hard to describe the experience with Phillip in words, but I can answer a few questions that everyone has before choosing a Shaman and Healing Center. On the first meeting in town at his little office, Phillip's energy immediately reaches out to you and makes you feel comfortable and at ease. His knowledge and instruction is very clear and he'll answer any questions you might have. Going from the hot, sweaty town to the healing center 10 minutes by boat up the river is a welcoming change and you are greeted by lovely trees, a swimming hole and we were fortunate enough to meet two really amazing people who were volunteering there. It is a beautiful jungle setting created for beautiful healing. Hanging out and listening to the sounds of the Jungle calms one down and helps you prepare for the ceremonies to come. As the time for the ceremony arrives, one is greeted by a nervousness and unsurity of what is going to happen. This is where a good Shaman is very important. Instructions on the ceremony is given and a little bit of his style, using buddhist, shipobo, native north american and Mayan traditions, is explained and one is made to feel at ease and ready for the ceremony. The ceremony starts, it is pitch dark and the powerful voice cuts through the darkness chanting a buddhist mantra. From here Phillip leads one through the ceremony with grace and great power! Chanting Icaros, singing songs and doing some personal one on one healing is all part of the well put together ceremony. Phillip is talented, humble, kind, compassionate and his knowledge of working with the mother of plants becomes evident in his ceremonies. We feel very blessed and happy to have found ourselves in his loving care. I hope this helps anyone interested and looking for healing at the hands of Mother Ayahuasca, the jungle and a truly excellent Shaman! Thanks again Phillip for an amazing, healing experience!!!

Wayra ... the one who holds wisdom

Cultural authenticity, spirituality and humbleness .. These are the words that come to my mind when I think of Wayra. This man deeply touched my heart and the heart of those who were in the Amazon, at the Solstice Long Dance and Pilgrimage to Island of the Sun. Thank you for your kindness! Amor y luz

      Mi Hermana!

I am so grateful to meet this beautiful young yet old woman healer. Wara possesses grace and generosity of soul and sprit yet a no-nonsense respect approach to working with the elementals, the medicines, the achichillas, grandmothers and grandfathers. I look forward to learning more with and from her as our Medicine Family grows.

  • Ne'ith Arrow   September 28, 2015

      Leadership and Respect

I was surprised at first at how young this great man is. But this is only skin deep. Below the surface lives the ancient wisdom, deep respect and humility necessary to work with the Medicines. I look forward to learning with and from mi Hermano!

      retiro chamanico 3 semanas

Allaya! Caroline C.

      The Heart Maketh thy Blood

The first glance betrays not his secret. He seems quite mundane. Of course, what sort of veil withstands the jungle? Just some beads leer from his neck, indiscernible in their affiliation; Hindu or Christian? Surely, one must wait for nightfall to see the shaman. It is then when the Mother of the Vines will claim his body and knowledge. He has done enough to be worthy of possession by the master plants: his training at the hands of the Shipibo and the North American natives collides perfectly with his esoterical knowledge of the secular christian and Vaishnava faiths. His seemingly brownian interests collapse at night into the most cohesive Ayahuasca ceremonies I have attended. His signature is the comnbination of hindu mantras and shipibo icaros, deeply trance-like vocal intonations that direct the ceremony at his will, or, better said, at the need of the ritual. He has the utmost respect for what he does, feeling himself a vessel, and this sacrality towards the ritual extends to everyday life, in which I myself have been inspired. What is not a ritual, anyway? Even cooking pizzas seem to be part of the divine play (btw, they were delicious!). Under his care, 30-day diets of rice and raw bananas are a healing processes that all undertake with his direction as inspiration. I have nothing to say of this man that meeting him could not reveal, but I hope that my sincere recommendation for this new breed of international shaman, finding in Phillip one of the most genuine embodiments, goes out to at least one that may be seeking his wisdom.

      Metamorphosis, the Place

This is the place that has witnessed my deepest transformations - the shedding of my heaviest veils. Its structure is ideal for staying one day, a week, or a moth (which I've done twice now, during the Shamanic Retreat of january/february 2014 & 2015). Within its limits the strangest society is formed, an ipso-facto family of deep seekers, great masters, yogic enthusiasts, lecturers, retreat groups, tourists keen on the beautiful surrounding landscape and passers-by that maybe come with their families for a mid-day culinary moment. However, each group has their special place, and Allkamari's design knows how importantly space and motive are intertwined. The Kiva - a north-american native temple, built on the blessing of Beautiful Painted Arrow - is the place where ceremonies are confined, leaving both the healing and the enjoying (although sometimes they may collide within ceremonies!) their ground of being. Its resort infrastructure is well above most hotels in La Paz, leaving not only tourists, but tired pilgrims of the plants also, deeply thankful of its services. The crew working for your full satisfaction is quite friendly, having built on Allkamari not only a career, but a kind of family. From the cooks to the shamans, everyone has your well-being at heart, so that the food is also healthy and natural, flowing effortlessly in the energy stream that Allkamari musters to call its own, possibly being the perfect prism for the soul of the Valle de las Ánimas.

      Wara, the Evening Star

My first Ayahuasca ceremony was with this woman, and I will forever be thankful for the care and passion with which she welcomed me to the world of her ancestors. I have further enjoyed her company at various other rituals of spiritual empowering: ayahuasca ceremonies, san pedro (wachuma) ceremonies, the Southern Sun-Moon Dance and the Puma-Katari pilgrimage at the Sun Island of the Titicaca Lake. From the mountains to the jungle she has always preserved the most re-assuring and beautiful smile, and her innate and selfless compassion is something that is not supported by study of divine scriptures but through her own experience and knowledge of the heart of the earth. Once, at the Wizard Mountain Jungle Retreat, during an Ayahuasca experience, I walked out of the temple in an attempt to go and watch the full moon. She followed me and stood by the path returning to the temple, waiting for me. I thought she had something to say to me, but when I caught with her she just smiled and said "just be careful with the ants... they are building a new road, see?". She is genuinely inspired by life, life of any sort, and, though her healing knowledge is circumscribed to the aid of her fellow men and women, her devotion knows no race, nor species. Her Ayahusaca ceremonies are some of the most beautiful I have experienced, her singing is sublime, and her counsels after the experience have always been spot-on insights into my own self.

Tupak Wayrna Runa, Master of Ceremonies

Both at the Kiva Temple in Allkamari and at the Jungle Retreat in Wizard Mountain I have been fortunate enough to spend some time getting acquainted with this great Aymara Priest. He is truly a master of ceremonies, and a living landstone for his people's knowledge and traditions. I am deeply grateful for his leading role in Ayahuasca and San Pedro Ceremonies, and I have also been under his direction in the Sun-Moon Dance and the Puma-Katari Pilgrimage in the Sun Island of the Titicaca Lake. I have developed an intense love and devotion for this particular shaman - his broad smile foreshadows his utmost care while running his ceremonies, and reveals a heart keen in healing a world that has much need of the ways of his people. I have no criticism nor could I have any while speaking of one of my masters - of the dozen of ceremonies in which we've been together there has never appeared something with which he could not deal, speaking of his deep training and his true understanding of the psychic forces acting within altered states of collectice consciousness. I recommend his guidance for any seeker hoping to enjoy the light of the plant teachers; I cannot say the same for the Sun-Moon Dance and the Puma-Katari pilgrimage, because he's actually the only Bolivian Shaman that can guide you!

      Wara is pure light!

One of the deepest conections I've ever had with myself, I left the ceremony with a new point of view of life and all the answers I need to move on with my life after a long period of spiritual emptyness. I think God has a lot of ways to talk to us and one of these is the natural medicine and the nature forces. Wara guided me throught the hardest conection I experienced and also helped me getting my soul back, she is pure light!!

Thank you!

We're glad you've joined our retreat community. See you around :)
