Schedule

Day 1 - Welcome!
Participants will depart to Collingwood and meet Climb Away staff at the retreat house by 4pm. Upon arrival, everyone will settle into the luxurious and spacious retreat house. Time to mingle with other participants with snacks, refreshments, and roundtable to review climber etiquette, leave no trace, and safety - leading up to setting our goals and intentions. A welcome yoga warm up stretch and hatha flow will take place around 6pm. Welcome Dinner will be served by 7:30pm at the house using only the freshest ingredients. (think: outdoor patio stargazing BBQ dinner picnic). Bon appetit!

DAY 2 - Climb Away
Let’s make the most out of the first day of climbing - we’ll meet our climbing guides and head over to the crag. Today is a full day of climbing and technique workshops - best practices for belaying, climbing knots, and safety management. The guides will lead a personalized workshop, reviewing topics such as rock + land respect, climbing terms & communication, movement techniques, and preventing injuries. Get started on practicing the moves on the perfect granite! Packed lunches will be served by noon, with plenty of snack breaks for everyone can share their beta of the day. Keep on climbing! At the start of the evening, we’ll return to the house and get some R&R before dinner. After wrapping up the adventures of the day, we’ll head back to the house and get ready for a night on the town. Let’s dine at a local restaurant and try some authentic ON flavours!

DAY 3 - Farewell!
Another day, another climb! This morning, we’ll start with a rejuvenating stretch for climbers session outside, followed by a tasty 8am breakfast. Get your gear ready! Time to meet our guides and put those lessons into practice! Today is another day of climbing and technique workshops - cleaning routes, building anchors, and rappelling safely. We’re sure you’ll be hungry by 12pm - plenty of packed gourmet lunches and snacks to go around! Re-energize and re-charge: climb and repeat. Experience true wilderness and the unique array of plants and animals that will enchant you as you absorb the rich history of the past and enjoy the excitement of present day adventures. Finally, we’ll debrief over a relaxing group meditation on the cliff. The last day is always the hardest - on the road again, back to Toronto!

About This Event

Located right around the corner from Collingwood, Thornbury’s Metcalfe Rock is a haven for Ontario climbers seeking outdoor adventure. The limestone cliffs are easily accessible with a short hike in, multiple route options, and breathtaking views of the Niagara Escarpment region. Old growth forest and streams provide the perfect setting for this retreat!

NOTE: due to current circumstances, we will be using this as a 'Sample Itinerary', and creating personalized custom retreats for small groups (ie. families, climbing partners, etc). No previous outdoor climbing experience necessary. Please inquire for more information, thanks!

Venue Highlights

Chalet chic meets rustic retreat. Soft greys, white shiplap, chefs entertaining Kitchen with 11 ft island, built in speakers throughout and more. Rustic Great room with Mennonite beams, stone fireplace with barn beam mantel and 60 in tv. Unwind with your morning coffee in our Muskoka style sunroom with floor to ceiling windows, stone fireplace and whitewashed pine walls. Throughout the house you will find Custom beam work, stone fireplaces, barnboard accent details,shiplap, high ceilings, wine room and much more.

Accommodations

Custom 4100 sq ft. Bungalow chalet with large loft - minutes to the mountains. Large open concept white kitchen with rustic decor and a second living room area - stunning Loft, sleeps 6, with kitchenette, living area, TV, bath. There are 4 bedrooms with 7 beds and 3.5 bathrooms. The beds: 5 Queen, 1 single, 2 sofa beds.
