Pure magic, momentous empowerment, deep realization – these are the experiences offered through this training in the highlands of Peru. Our Peruvian trainings are a synergistic synchronistic coming together of unique souls, called by the energy of the mountains, spirits and each other to come together and co-evolve on the spiritual path. There will be many tears, trials, and layers shed as well as smiles, revelations, and love experienced by all.
The magic of Peru’s Sacred Valley is unparalleled, a unique opportunity to stay among the Quechua people, near ancient Inca temples and ruins. This Yoga Teacher Training Course (YTTC) will be held in a small, intimate study environment, at the beautiful Sach’a Munay Yoga Retreat in Arin, which offers beautiful flower gardens, cleansing waterfalls, delicious vegetarian cuisine and stunning views of the apus (sacred mountains) and surrounding lands. Yoga Mandala holds a strong, auspicious energy, with an appreciation for the balance and purity of nature. The grounds are cloaked in flowers and fruit trees, majestic rocks and cliffside ancient burial sites holding space overhead. Gnomes can be felt and seen frolicking down from the mountains. Fresh clear waters rush down from the mountains, channeled into waterways through the property calming, purifying, and irrigating.
In addition to our standard course offerings, we will dive deep into our mystical consciousness, developing our practice from the soul level to bring forth each individual’s unique gifts. We will share the teachings of yoga applied to daily living, connect through provoking cosmic wisdom, and learn Shamanic Healing Practices of the Andes. There will be personal retreat days of silence and fasting, allowing for a deep integration of course offerings. There is a strong Bhakti component in this training, as your guides bring you into the daily experience of bliss, devotion and self realization through mantras, songs and chanting.
The Sacred Valley is super powerful, charged and blessed! Sach’a Munay Yoga Retreat, the training site, is a small retreat center near the sacred mountain Apu Pitu Siray. A 20 minute walk takes you to a beautiful tall waterfall with a magnificent view of the valley below, as well as a longer hour hike to a series of very large sacred waterfalls. The rooms are simple, comfortable and elegant.
We will practice yoga in the Yoga Shala, which comfortably fits 16 students in a circular mandala shape and is fully enclosed by glass windows allowing one to take in all the beauty around. There is a ceremonial outdoor fire pit and an adobe enclosed Temescal space. Flower baths and Reiki are offered onsite ($20 ea); laundry service is provided (at $5 per load.) The dining area is a comfortable communal space cosmically decorates in Shipibo Ayahuasca prints and handpainted art. The center is the love child of SYI Alumni Melinda Melic, who has hand planted the spectacular landscaping and is constantly inspired to improve the landscape. She teaches ashtanga yoga and works with many medicine men and women in the area.
The meals are nourishing simple fair, created with emphasis on local organic ingredients. Breakfast consists of fruit, oatmeal, bread (and occasional eggs/cheese offered for non vegans). Lunch and dinners vary, the constant being creative, inspired deliciousness with excellent green salads and occasional raw deserts – think chocolate bliss balls ! Hot tea from freshly grown onsite mint and munya, as well as chamomile and anis and purified water is always on hand. Student concerns are namely about the climate-it is a bit brisk, so be sure to pack warm layers!
Many great wisdom teachers will join us for this special course, including deeply connected and passionate SYI facilitators and local Shamans and healing practitioners who will share their insights and medicine, in fire ceremony, Coca leaf readings, energetic healings, connection to sacred temples and ancient sites, and optional sacred plant medicines, Cacao, San Pedro, and Ayahuasca (see extra-curricular activities section below). We will again be blessed to learn from indigenous shamans in ceremony, learning to restore balance and give thanks. An additional, optional journey to the legendary Machu Picchu is another of the many highlights.
Please join us on this unique journey through the highlands of South America, connecting to the wisdom and guru inside us all through deepened self-practice and inquiry. Help to create this mythical, magical moving community, to facilitate our channeling to the creative self, the universal wisdom itself.
