Race in America: Virtual Book Club

About This Event

Tuesdays, June 23 through September 15, 2020, 8:00 to 9:00pm

Facilitators: Lori Okema and Jared Epler

Join us for 13 weeks as we journey through the book “White Fragility: Why it’s so hard for white people to talk about racism” by Robin Diangelo. This group is a safe space to ask questions, to voice your thoughts, and to gain a deeper sense of what it means to be white and to be black in the United States in 2020.  This space isn’t about being “called out;” this is a space to be “called in” to have an important, authentic, intentional conversation about race in America, and what we (as white people) can do better.

Week 1 (June 23) we will share introductions and an overview. Weeks 2-13, we will discuss one chapter at a time.

The cost of participating in this group is $20; 100% of the proceeds will go to the Equal Justice Initiative.

A zoom link will be emailed after registration.

Why Retreat?

We asked people why they go on retreat, here's what they said:

To find peace and renewal while going through a huge change in my life. Empty nest and the end of a 27 year marriage all at once. Susan
