Summer Haiku: Encountering the Poetry of the Earth
About This Event
Haiku is the one poetic form in all of world literature that concerns itself with following Nature as a spiritual path. Haiku preserves a connection with the seasonal rhythms of the natural world, rhythms that make sense of the experience of human life, offering us a way to live with vitality, die peacefully, and celebrate each day with gratitude and grace. At this summer retreat with haiku masters Clark Strand and Priscilla Lignori, participants will learn the basic principles of haikuForm, Season, and Present Mindand discover how to encounter Nature directly using the haiku technique developed by Masaoka Shiki called the sketch from life. Dress for the season and prepare to wander the mountain in search of poetry.
