About this Retreat
Phyllis is a retired public, school educator and administrator who has brought those teaching skills into the quilting classroom. She has been a Certified Instructor for Deb Tucker of Studio 180 Design since 2013. By 2017 she teamed up with another Certified Instructor and released Tucker University which is a curriculum for teaching how to use the Studio 180 Design tools and techniques. The Craft Retailer formerly the American Quilt Retailer published a series of articles written by Phyllis on the topic of the quilting classroom.
Phyllis presents an overview of the Studio 180 Design tools for guilds to help spread the word of how quilters can become better piecers. She especially enjoys teaching quilters of every level how to use the Studio 180 Design tools because even the most experienced quilter is thrilled with the ease and precision of the tools.
At large quilt shows you can find Phyllis in her booth vending and demonstrating the Studio 180 Design tools, or she will be in the classroom teaching. She has taught classes at several AQS shows and has provided lectures at the Madison, WI Quilt Show. You will find her classes to be very informative, well planned, and whole lot of fun.

Set sail on a quilting adventure with nationally recognized Studio 180 Design Certified Instructor, Phyllis Fay as she guides you through the stunning Nautical Dreams quilt. Inspired by the beauty of the sea and the spirit of exploration, this eye-catching design combines precision piecing with striking movement to create a quilt that is both elegant and unforgettable.
Throughout this retreat, Phyllis will share her expertise using Studio 180 Design's Square Squared®, Corner Beam®, and V-Block® tools, helping quilters build confidence while creating accurate, professional-looking units. Whether you're already familiar with Studio 180 Design techniques or looking to expand your skills, you'll receive step-by-step instruction in a fun, supportive environment.
One of the most exciting aspects of Nautical Dreams is watching the design come to life through fabric and color choices. Participants will learn how color placement influences the movement and visual impact of the quilt while mastering several versatile units that can be applied to future quilting projects.

Skill Level
Confident Beginner to Intermediate
Participants should be comfortable with basic rotary cutting, sewing accurate seams, and following a quilt pattern. Prior experience with Studio 180 Design tools is helpful but not required. Phyllis will provide instruction and guidance throughout the retreat.

The NeedleNest Suite is a spacious shared room designed for up to four guests, each with a Twin XL bed featuring a 14–16" DreamCloud mattress, soft microfiber sheets, a waffle blanket, and a quilt. Each bed includes a headboard with built-in outlets and a nightstand with additional charging ports.
This room also includes:
Private full bathroom (shared by this room’s guests)
Large walk-in closet with extra pillows, blankets, and linens

The Patchwork Pair is a thoughtfully designed room that hosts up two guests in a cozy space inspired by the charm of patchwork quilting. Select this option if you prefer a private room with a larger bed. When selecting a private king room, we will convert the two twin beds into a larger twin bed using the existing bed frames, mattress and a conversion kit. As always all beds have 14–16" DreamCloud or Nectar mattress, soft microfiber bedding, a waffle blanket, and a quilt. Beds are paired with headboards that include built-in outlets and individual nightstands with extra charging ports.
