10-day Ayahuasca and San Pedro Retreat in Amazon/Sacred Valley
The first 7 days we stay in rainforest of Amazon in Puerto Maldonado in a beautiful Corto Maltes Amazonia jungle lodge. The whole week is dedicated for enjoying vibrant tropical nature, its sounds, smells and colours while being immersed in a setting of master plant retreat. The night ceremonies will be followed with plenty of time for rest, walks in the nature, hike to a jungle Lake Sandoval. Few excursions offered in the retreat will provide just enough physical activity, to have closer connection with Amazon nature – home of Ayahuasca – and support more complete physical processing of medicine, while leaving plenty time for oneself.
Main focus of this retreat is the experience with Ayahuasca medicine and integration of developments from the ceremonies. There are in total three ritual Ayahuasca night sessions (1st, 3rd and 5th day). The ceremonies are conduced in a designated building apart from the main guest area of the lodge. Located about 400m from bungalows there is maloca (the temple), a spacious round building, fully screened with mosquito net, providing shelter and comfort during the ceremony.
In the retreat only traditional, highest quality Peruvian Ayahuasca brew (consisting of Banisteriopsis Caapi and Chacruna) is served. Additionally during the night sessions there’s special time to receive two other Amazon traditional medicines – rapé and sananga. Rapé is a snuff consisting of medicinal plants’ ash and sometimes tobacco, allowing deeper levels of connection and cleansing. Sananga are the drops for the eye that clean and tonify the system.
Sacred Valley and Cusco
For the second, concluding part of the retreat we travel to Cusco region. Although a very different environment with high mountains and dry climate, it is reachable by 40min flight, ascending from the jungle lowlands over the Andean mountain peaks.
The experience with San Pedro is the main element of this 3-day visit with which we conclude the retreat. For its unique qualities of monumental presence and deep balance San Pedro is a perfect master plant for concluding a week intensive with Ayahuasca.
The last day of retreat is the day for visiting, sharing or just having fun. On Jan 5 we’ll be taken to Cusco, to visit the original Inka capital, see handicraft market and share an abundant healthy meals for the dinner.
San Pedro journey
The concluding experience with San Pedro is a light adventure hike, in which we spend an entire day, starting in the early morning, in company of mountain medicine. After being taken to approx 3800m by a taxi to Quinsa Kocha mountain lake, we will slowly ascend through trails, surrounded by the peaks of Sacred Valley.
The hike comprises crossing the slopes and small valleys with magical lakes, visiting an area without houses and rarely any people. This day of slow and careful hiking up the mountain under a gentle but firm “guidance” of San Pedro and the retreat facilitators, represent an ascension into new levels of comprehension and integration of the experience gained on the retreat.
